“Are you done for today?”
Adrian’s voice forced me to look up from the final prints of the dresses that we were about to add in our first collection.
“I think it’ll take me another couple of hours to complete the review so we can finally work on the dresses.” I responded.
“Don’t overexert yourself, Tess. I am confident that this will be a success. You and others have put your soul and hard work in these collections. Please, go home and rest.” He advised me.
It was around five in the evening. My shift was almost over but I wanted to finish the review even if it could take more time. I and the newly hired team had been working on the maiden project for last one week tirelessly. I forgot to eat or sleep.
I missed Lucas with whom I hardly spent any time, my boy understood my busy life but I felt guilty.
“Tess, are you avoiding going home?” He asked me and I stopped scribing.
“Huh? What do you mean?” I asked with a confused expression.
“It’s obvious how you have been spending more time here, never talks about Logan after his scandalous video leak from the club. It’s not a rocket science to understand that your personal life is in the middle of
a turbulence.” He said.
I sighed and rubbed my forehead.
I did my best to stick to my words. I stopped interacting with Logan and readjust my life to avoid him
completely.
“This isn’t how life goes on, Tess. It’s not my place to interfere in your personal life but if it can be solved, I advise you to do it.” He added.
“I want to move on, Adrian but every time I try to leave Logan and our past behind, I again find myself on the same crossroad.” I confessed.
“Then choose a path only then you’ll be able to make a final decision whether you want to fix your broken marriage or want a complete freedom which will come with a cost and the cost if Lucas.”
I looked at him. Whatever he said, it made complete sense.
“It doesn’t help because I’ll be unhappy in both cases.” I replied.
“Then remove the bone of contention between you and Logan.”
“Are you indicating at Raelynn?” I narrowed my eyes.

“Yes, she’s the one who has casted her evil eye on your happy marriage. This is very simple.” He suggested and I rolled my eyes.
“Come on, Adrian. She isn’t a bone but a woman who came into his life before me and no matter how
hard I tried to make my own place in his life, he couldn’t let go of her even in her absence. So, it’s useless to go for wild goose chase.”
“Well, it’s your call. As a friend, I only want the best for you.” He smiled, “I think your work is finished now. We can have a coffee before you head home.” He suggested.
“I’m sorry, Adrian for turning down your offer again but I need to go back home. Lucas gets very lonely and I want to spend some time with him.” I gave him an apologetic smile.
The nano flash of disappointment on his face couldn’t go unnoticed by me but he nodded his head.
“It’s fine, we can grab a meal some other time or maybe tomorrow because I’ll be joining the final review meeting tomorrow.” He smiled again.
“Sure.”
I arranged my desk and collected my stuffs to hurry back home when my phone rang and Logan’s bodyguard’s number flashed on the screen which made me frown.
However, I answered the call.
“Hello, Zach.”
“Mrs. Wilferd, can you come to the Princ Hospital? Mr. Wilferd got into an accident and we have admitted him here.” He told me in a grim voice.
My body froze when I heard this and my hands trembled.
“How…how..is he?” I asked and anticipated a positive answer.
“The airbags opened on time but he’s still injured. The rest of the family is here but the hospital needs his spouse‘ signatures on the documents. Please, come here as soon as possible but drive safely.” He said and ended the call.
I lost my balance as my legs gave up but Adrian rushed to help me.
“Tess, what happened?” He asked with concern.
“Logan met an accident. He is admitted in the hospital. I need to go and see him now.” I said and ran out of the office, I couldn’t control my racing heartbeats or my messed up mind.
The fear of losing the man I loved overpowered me.
“Wait! I’ll drive you there because you’re not in a mental condition to drive safely, just give me the hospital’s name.” Adrian followed me.
I didn’t know when tears blurred my vision.
