Tessa
“Thanks for dropping me here, Adrian.”
“Hey, there’s no need to thank me. I not only your friend but also your boss. My employee’s safety is my responsibility and right now, you’re slightly drunk. How could I let you drive?” Adrian, who
home after dinner, said.
“Please, go to your home now. It’s quite late. Good night and drive safely.” I said.
“Good night, Tess. See you tomorrow.” He wished me back and drove off.
Ove me
I felt a little tipsy only in a couple of shots that I had on the insistence of my team mates and I couldn’t deny them.
It wasn’t late but I never went out late in the night.
“Is Lucas asleep, Kelly?” I asked Kelly who was in the living room, probably waiting for me.
“Yes, Ma’am. He slept a while ago but..” She paused and there was hesitation in her voice.
“Kelly, what happened?” I narrowed my eyes.
“Mr. Wilferd is back. He is resting in his room.”
Kelly’s reply left me utterly surprised.
“Logan?” I frowned.
“Yes, Ma’am. I thought he was getting discharged tomorrow but he came back taking early discharge. Mr. Felix, his cousin accompanied him. He just left a while ago.” Kelly told me.
Logan was home means I could no longer avoid him. Our last conversation replayed in my mind how rudely I refused to visit him at the hospital and after that he ended the call. A faint guilt also wrapped around my pride.
“You can go and rest now, Kelly.” I said to her.
“Good night, Ma’am.” She bowed and left.
The house was filled with agonizing silence. I wondered how fast this home changed into a four walled building. It used to be filled with laughter and warmth even though we lacked marital love between us but we were happy.
I dragged my tired body to my room first to change and take quick shower because I didn’t want him to have a wrong impression of me.
Changing into my night gown, I slowly made my way to Lucas‘ room first to ensure he slept properly and after ensuring that he was comfortable and giving him a good night kiss, I prepared myself to see Logan.

I knocked at the door first.
“May I come inside, Logan?” I asked.
I heard a deep ‘yes‘ before pushing the door slowly and stepped inside. The lights were dim and I found him on his bed in a sitting position. He had a book on his lap.
Our eyes met for a brief second.
“I heard from Kelly that you took an early discharge. What was the need to rush home when you were in good care?” I tried to start a decent conversation with him.
“I hate hospitals and there was no need to rot on a hospital bed with tasteless food on the name of health. So, I consulted with the doctors and they said I could take rest in the comfort of our home.” He replied.
The way he said ‘our home‘, it pulled a string in my heart but I chose not to show it on my face. His tone was normal. Earlier, I thought he’d be angry or upset with me. I came with a mindset that he’d question me about the dinner.
“Okay, then I’ll let you rest. If you need anything, you can let me know now.” I said out of courtesy because he was still my husband and I was living in his house.
He shook his head in denial.
“It would be better if you could stay here for some time and talk to me. I am really getting bored because the work is handled by my COO and I can’t move my hand much.” He said.
I felt awkward because in last few days we avoided each other like a ghost and our talks only ended on
arguments.
“Logan, I am not saying this to upset you. I genuinely saying this,” I licked my lips before continuing because I had no idea how he’d react, “You can ask Raelynn to come over here and stay with you until you get better. Don’t worry, I’ll convince Lucas.”
His face turned blank as soon as I finished my sentence.
“Do you really want me to call Raelynn to live here? Won’t you be jealous or pick a fight with her?” He asked me in a flat tone.
“It doesn’t matter how I feel, Logan. You will feel better if the person you love stays around you and that person is Raelynn.” I replied.
