I sent a text to Adrian to explain him the situation and asked him for a few days‘ leave, not leave but permission to work from home because Logan needed my care.

“Tessa, keep the phone aside and join us. You are lost in your own world.” Felix, Logan’s cousin said when he saw me replying to messages which was work related.

“I am sorry, Felix but you know work pressure when you have to take unplanned leave.” I said and didn’t miss to remind it to Logan who was quietly eating his food.

Or trying to eat with a hand casted. I wanted to help him but my pride didn’t allow me.

“I am curious to see your first collection as a designer. I am sure that you’ll rock.” Felix said and ir felt like a genuine compliment.

“I am hoping the same but let’s see how the final product comes out.” I replied.

“But I have to say that Adrian Mcnight gave you a huge opportunity and handed you a new company. It’s success or failure entirely falls upon you. I must say he a very good friend who sees your abilities.” Felix added.

I only smiled in response but it didn’t go unnoticed by me how Logan’s face turned hard and he clutched the fork tightly.

“Adrian and I were in the same school but I can say that he only suggested me and I thought give it a chance because soon, I have to seriously think about my future and a new place to art over.” I shared my plans with Felix but it was also for Logan to hear.

“Oh, that’s great to hear. If you want to buy property to live, you can contact me. I can find you the best places within affordable range.” Felix offered.

“Thanks, Felix. I’ll let you know if I’d have plans to live here but I’d rather settle in a different country.” I replied and this time Logan’s eyes shot up in my direction.

“Tessa, I am reall-”

“Felix, can’t you eat quietly like a civilized person?” Logan shot a glare at his cousin who was obviously unbothered.

“Don’t get worked up. I am only trying to help Tessa because once you’ll marry Raelynn, she has to settle somewhere far and in better place.” Felix advocated me.

“Felix, you’re crossing your line. This is our private matter.” Logan looked completely displeased with his cousin.

To ease the situation, I spoke, “Try this curry. This is my mom’s special.”

Sure.” Felix smiled and served a portion on his plate.

There was tension at the table. I and Felix shared some light conversation but he didn’t tease his cousin more.

After the lunch, Felix left and I gave Logan his medicines. He didn’t speak to me and told me that he wanted to rest for a while.

There was still time for Lucas to return. So, I went to the office to inspect the progress.

I didn’t want to be unprofessional in the first month of my job.

In my way back home, I stopped by Lucas‘ school.

“Mommy!”

Lucas walked out of the school with a wide smile when he saw me. Nowadays, his nanny picked him and when he saw me, he ran towards me.

“Mommy, you come to pick me today?” He asked, looking elated to find me.

“Yes, I am staying home for a few days so I’ll be picking you from school.” I took his bag and helped him to settle inside the car.

“Can we stop by the ice–cream parlour. It has been a week you didn’t allow me to eat sugary items.” He requested me with puppy face.

As a mother, I always made sure that he ate healthy.

“Okay, let’s eat some tasty ice–cream before we go home.‘ I agreed because I wanted to get away from Logan and his bipolar behaviour.

We spent a good time together, ate our favourite ice–cream and grabbed some stationary items for his school projects before heading home.

“Mommy, will Dad be okay? I feel sad when I see him in pain.” He asked me innocently and it really touched me to see how much he loved me and his father.
