PART–059
Tessa
Two pink lines on the sticks left no room for any doubt.
I was pregnant.
I took four tests and they all turned out positive means I was indeed pregnant.
“Tessa, are you okay? If you need some time to yourself then I can leave you alone.” Ruby’s low voice broke the eerie silence inside the bathroom.
It was her who bought me the pregnancy test kits and insisted that I should confirm my doubts while I was constantly rejecting her assumptions but it turned out that she was right.
“I am fine, Ruby. The truth won’t change.” I sighed and collected the sticks. I couldn’t risk it throwing in the restroom dustbin.
It was also a special symbol because I had never taken one before because I used to be on pills and Logan always used protection before except the last two times when he left his seeds inside me.
And now a new life was growing inside me.
“I shouldn’t be asking you this but..are you happy?” Ruby asked with a mixture of hesitation and concern.
I shook my head.
“I don’t know but I am not upset either. Perhaps, it’s natural for a first–time mother who isn’t prepared for an unexpected surprise like this.” I replied with honesty.
She nodded her head.
“I can understand but congratulations. A baby is a blessing, it gives you a new reason to live and thrive.” She opened her arms to hug me.
I smiled faintly because I really needed to process it first but the bigger challenge was how was I going to tell Logan.
What if he refuses to accept a baby from me?
He made it very clear on the day of our marriage that we’d not be having another kid but it was three years ago. He was still grieving Raelynn and whatever he said back then, it had changed over time.
“Don’t stress yourself because stress isn’t good for the little one.” She said when she noticed my silence.
“Ruby, can you not tell this to anyone especially Adrian? Please.” I requested her.

“Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me and it’s your right when you want to reveal it.” She assured me, “Now, go home because you still look awful.” She advised me.
“Thanks, Ruby. You’re my soul sister.” I hugged her again and called it a day off.
I left a quick message to Adrian telling him that I was leaving to pick Lucas from school.
My hand involuntarily moved to my flat belly.
I was already a mother but bearing a child inside your own body, it sent shivers down my body.
An unexplainable feeling. It was overwhelming because I had no words to describe what I had felt.
“Mommy, you’re very quiet. Did something happen at work?” Lucas asked me softly and I looked at my son.
“No, I am just tired.” I stroked his hairs.
He resembled his father. I wondered how would my baby look like.
Whether he or she would resemble their father or me.
“Mommy, you’re zoning out again.” Lucas commented, his head resting on my chest.
“Lucas, do you feel lonely?” I asked him because I had to get an idea what he thought about having a sibling.
“No, I don’t because I have you, Dad and my friends.” He beamed, his eyes showing his happiness and I realized that he didn’t get the meaning behind my question so I decided to drop the idea.
When we reached home, I helped to change and pack his stuffs because we were going for one day and two nights trip to their beachside villa.
Lucas loved the place but they hadn’t visited the exclusive property for over six months or even long.
“Mommy, will Dad come?” Lucas asked because it was already evening and there was no sign of Logan.
I tried calling him but his phone went to voice–mail and it only increased my stress.
What if he went to meet Raelynn because she’d not sit quietly and lose him to me.
My thoughts came to a halt when I heard his car entering the garage and I sighed in relief.
“Dad has come.” Lucas jumped in excitement and ran out to greet his father.
Nervousness again conjured me when I thought about the pregnancy. Sooner or later, I had to tell him and this trip would help me to tell him.

I straightened my composure when I heard them walking inside.
Lucas was holding his hand who looked tired but he forced a smile for his son. Undoubtedly, he was a great father to Lucas. I hoped he’d love and care for our second child as well.
