Tessa

“Lucas, see over there!” I pointed on a group of colourful fishes on the surface.

We were on a boat to sail off in the ocean where we could see marine life.

“Wow! Mommy, they are beautiful.” Lucas‘ eyes widened in amusement.

He was totally enjoying the trip while I and Logan faced another awkward moment. He was trying his best to avoid me. I tried explaining him that I didn’t mean what he heard but after that he didn’t speak to me much and I decided to give him some space.

I didn’t like to be a clingy woman.

“Master Lucas, come over here. I’ll show you more interesting things.” The instructor called Lucas to the other side of the boat who was showing us the unseen side of the sea.

“Be careful and don’t be over excited.” I reminded my little bundle of joy and he ran towards the man who was expert in showing marine life.

I was feeling nauseated but I tried my best not to show my discomfort on my face.

“We’ll head back home tonight. I have an urgent meeting early in the morning tomorrow which can’t be pushed forward.” Logan said.

I tilted my head to face him but his attention was on Lucas. His ignorance broke my heart but I nodded my head because work was also important.

“I’ll pack our stuff once we reach at the beach house.” I said and faced the vast to collect more memories.

We spent a couple of hours in the sea before heading to the shore and had a light lunch at the instructor’s house whose mother cooked us some very delicious sea food and surprisingly I didn’t throw up.

By the time we returned at the beach house, the sun was already setting. We had an eventful

day.

“Logan, what has made you upset? At least, give me a reason so I can make my peace with it.” I asked him calmly when he entered the room to shower.

He didn’t reply then so I went to kitchen to prepare us a some snacks before we leave.

Ten minutes later, he walked in there.

“It’s not about you, Tessa. I am stressed with work and unexpected turmoil at one of our units.” He said fetching a water bottle from the fridge.

“You’ll deal with it smartly like always.” I said.

“It’s not the same anymore. My Dad has retired and his work has also shifted on me.” He added before heading out of the kitchen.

“Mommy, Dad, it’s not fair. I wanted to stay long. We had so much fun.” Lucas pouted as we drove back home.

“We’ll go there next month, I promise. Dad caught up in some urgent work. You know after Grandpa’s retirement, Dad has a lot of work at office.” Logan tried to cheer up his son.

I again missed the chance to tell him because the stress of work might make things adverse if I announced my pregnancy and I was also not sure about his stance on Raelynn.

There was no way I’d raise my child around that wicked woman.

When we reached home, his driver unloaded our luggage.

“I have to meet someone regarding the work so I’ll be wait. Don’t wait for me.” Logan said once we walked inside our house.

I felt something wasn’t right because he couldn’t look at me when he said it to me but I had no right to stop him if it was really work related.

“Okay, drive safe and eat something.” I advised him.

He glanced over Lucas who was excitingly telling Kelly about the adventures he had during the trip.

Our eyes met for a brief moment before he walked out of the house again. His phone buzzed at the same time.

I couldn’t hear anything clearly but enough for my suspicion to grow.

“I am on my way. Please, be patient. It wasn’t easy to lie to Tessa.” He hissed over the phone.

Was he talking to Raelynn?

With a heavy heart, I walked back into the house. My mind was at unrest.

My cousin had been quiet for days but suddenly Logan’s behaviour changed. He was trying to avoid me.

I skipped the dinner because I felt sick. Deciding to visit a doctor next day, I tried to work.

But it was a useless attempt to distract my mind from Logan and Raelynn.

Unable to fight against my patience, I dialled Logan’s number around nine in the night. He answered it after a few rings but the voice I heard from the other side didn’t belong to him.

It was hers.

“Hello, my dear sister.” Raelynn’s voice came from other side.
