PART–065
Logan
“Logan, for the last time I am saying this.” Raelynn’s father said in an irritated voice.
“Are you sure that you have nothing to do with Tessa’s sudden disappearance?” I asked him in a deadpanned tone.
“Son, please, trust us. We don’t know where is Tessa. We haven’t seen her in a very long time and she hadn’t contacted us before leaving your house.” Susan, Raelynn’s mother said in a polite tone but it didn’t make me believe them.
“It’s not a secret how you have been living on the wealth which Tessa’s father left for her and how you have treated her before the marriage so don’t act like saints. It’s better if you have nothing to do with her disappearance. Because, if I find out that you had hurt her, trust me, you’ll see the worst side of me.”
“Are you threatening us, Logan?” Mr. Cowper raised his tone.
“In whatever way you understand what I am trying to say. You must be a good parent for Raelynn but the worst guardian for Tessa.” I said with disdain.
“Logan, it’s good that she’s gone by herself. Now, you can be with Raelynn and don’t worry about Tessa. She is a grown–up woman. She can take care of herself.” Susan said still caring for her daughter’s future.
I wanted to yell at her that my wife was pregnant and only God knows in which condition she was living but I refrained my anger
It was totally useless to confront them.
“I feel pity on you. Well, I hope we don’t have to each other soon.”
Walking out of their house, I banged my fists on the steering wheel. My fear and impatience had been growing for last two days.
I had searched everywhere but there was no trace of Tessa. I confronted Adrian and Ruby. They also had no clue about her location. Their worries showed that even they had no idea about her whereabouts.
“Where are you, Tessa?” I whispered to myself.
I never felt this weak and a total failure in my entire life.
Why did I have to lie to her? Why I had to avoid her and made her feel that I didn’t want her in my life.
“Logan, I have used all my sources to find her. Let’s hope they would find her soon.” Felix slipped on the passenger’s seat.
“She’s pregnant, Felix.”
I spoke with great difficulty because the guilt was weighing on my soul.
“What are you saying, Logan? Why didn’t she tell you?” He asked.
“I think she wanted to tell me during the trip but we were interrupted. Her friend Ruby told me that she found out on the same day we left for the trip. I feel terrible, Felix and angry on her because she had to give me a chance.”
My emotions overlapped.
“Can you blame her? She had given you enough chances to mend your relationship but you keep riling behind Raelynn Cowper. Don’t regret now because you could save your marriage.” Felix slapped the truth on my face.
“I have to find her. I know I have made the biggest mistake of my life but I won’t let her leave me. She’s my wife and carrying my child.” I said with a determination to find my wife.
I never thought her absence would made me this vulnerable.
I didn’t realize that a life without her would feel this lonely and hollow. I didn’t feel in this way when I lost Raelynn.

“Accept that you love her, Logan? Stop lying to yourself and if you really want to win her back then you have to leave your past behind.” Felix advised.
When I reached home, I couldn’t dare to see Lucas. He was in a devastated state. He refused to see me because he thought I forced his mother to leave.
He wasn’t wrong either. My actions forced his mother to leave. Lucas was suffering due to my bad decisions.
“Sir, Master Lucas isn’t eating. Please, go and talk to him or he’ll fall sick.” Kelly met me in the living room with a sad and helpless expression.
The house felt dead and haunting.
“Thanks for taking care of him. You can go and rest now. I’ll be with him.” I said to her.
“Sir, you also haven’t eaten anything since Mam left. Please, take care of yourself.” She advised me.
“I am fine, Kelly.” I forced a smile and went to see my son.
My feet stopped at the doorstep, I couldn’t muster up the courage to go and talk to him. My heart constricted inside my chest seeing my son sobbing quietly.
I was the villain who destroyed his happiness. Tessa was his world.
But he was my son and only I could comfort him because we both needed each other in this fragile phase. So, preparing myself to bear his anger, I stepped into the room.
Lucas was clutching his soft toy which Tessa brought for him on his second birthday.
“Luke, Kelly told me that you have skipped lunch.” I said but my son avoided me like I was an invisible ghost in the room.
I sighed and sat down on the floor beside him.
“Lucas, I know how you’re feeling right now. I won’t stop you from missing your mother because I miss her too but I promise you that I’ll find her very soon.” I said.
He stayed unmoved. His silence was stabbing my heart.
“You don’t miss her, Dad so stop lying because I don’t trust you.” He spoke.
His voice had so much pain.
“Luke, I am sorry. I accept it was my fault that I made her upset but you have to believe me that I never wanted her gone from our lives.” I tried to fill the rift between me and my child.
For him, I was a failure as a father.
Finally, he looked at me. His eyes red and dull due to crying and my heart bled. I pushed him into this abyss of pain and loneliness.
“You love Ms. Cowper that’s why Mom left. You can go and be with her but she won’t be my Mommy.” Lucas again looked away.
“Lucas, I loved Raelynn when Tessa wasn’t in my life but trust me that I care for your Mom. I really do.” I emphasized on each word.
I caressed his head. I knew he was refraining himself from hugging me and finding comfort in my embrace but when I leaned down and kissed his head, he threw himself in my arm and broke down.
“Dad, I miss Mommy. Please, bring her back.”
