PART–067
Tessa
The excruciating pain coursed through my body. It was the worst pain.
“I..can’t..do it.” I breathed out and another contraction hit me.
“Tessa, you have to be strong. You aren’t fully dilated yet. We can’t wait more for you to be ready to push the baby naturally, w are considering a c–section.” The doctor said softly.
Tears soaked my face. I was all alone delivering a baby.
“Doctor, is my baby okay? Please, tell me the truth.” I whispered because they all looked tensed.
“Your baby is fine but not you, Tessa. I thought telling you would stress you even more but you have no family member preser with you except your aunt.” The doctor sighed.
My heart sank. Everything was smooth since the beginning but what went wrong in the end?
“Your umbilical cord prolapsed before the baby is ready to come out. It’s stressing your baby and it might rapture your placent We need to perform the surgery, Tessa or your life would be in more danger.” She told me.
Coldness wrapped me.
“My baby will be fine even if I won’t make it?” I asked her with tear filled eyes.
“Your baby is absolutely fine but we’ll do our best save you as well.” She assured me.
I might not be able to see my baby or have a life with her.
Life is too unpredictable.
Another wave of pain shot and it was the worst. I felt like I was torn open.
“Doc..Doctor…can..can..I call someone?” I somehow whispered because I had no energy left in my body.
“We’re taking you for an emergency surgery. We can’t waste more time.” She said.
“I want to tell my husband. If I won’t survive, he’ll take my baby.” I said, my eyes almost closing.
“Okay, but make it quick because your life is our first priority.” She said and asked me Logan’s number.
“He isn’t responding to the call.” She said.
My heart bled.
After eight months, I decided to finally tell Logan about our baby and gave him a chance to take care of our child but he lost the
chance.
I told her to send a text to Ruby, the only person who’d come to me if she receives the message.
“I am ready, Doctor.” I said and closed my eyes to let the tears stream down my eyes.
I didn’t remember what happened next, what they did to my body.
I had prepared myself to embrace death.
“Doctor, she hasn’t woken up yet. I am worried for her now,”
I heard a faint, familiar voice and other voices that I couldn’t decipher.

My eye balls moved and I tried to move my body but dull pain shot through my heavy body.
After a few more attempts, I was able to open my eyes but shut them instantly as they were sensitive to the light. “Doctor, she’s waking up.”
I heard a female voice and I guessed it was the nurse.
“Tessa, how are you feeling?” The doctor’s face appeared in front of my eyes when I was finally able to open my eyes.
“I am alive?” I asked because it was the first question which popped up in my hazy brain.
“Very much. You fought for your life but blood loss and exhaustion took over you and you slept for almost twenty–four hours. She smiled warmly at me.
“My baby?” I asked about my baby.
“She is a beautiful, healthy girl. We’ll let you meet her once we perform a few follow up tests to ensure your recovery. We can‘ risk any kind of infection.” She advised me.
Although, I was impatient to see and hold my baby, she was my doctor and if I had survived, I had to obey her.
ly, the sedatives wore off. I felt lighter but the pain in my stomach was uncomfortable because I couldn’t move.
ere is my aunt?” I asked the nurse who was in the room.
Mrs. Smith is with the baby and her father.” She told me.
Her last word stunned me and for a moment I thought I misheard her.
“What do you mean by her father?” I asked with a frown.
My heart was pounding wildly.
“Your husband is here. He came after a few hours once he received our message. He didn’t sleep or left the door even for a second until ten minutes ago when doctor called him to complete some formalities.” She replied me.
My mind was a complete mess. Logan came.
