PART–069
Logan
My search for my wife came to an end when I called back on the number that changed my life and ended my excruciating wait.
I found Tessa and our baby.
She was delivering our baby when I flew to the town where she had been living for months. I visited her aunt twice to ask her
about Tessa but she denied.
Tessa was hiding herself from me. Her coldness in our first conversation after our separation made me realize that it wasn’t going to be easy for me.
She had made up my mind to leave me but I wasn’t going to give up easily.
All those months without her had made my life hollow and unlively. I was surrounded by my family, I had Lucas, tons of work and Raelynn always trying to ease my hidden pain but nothing worked.
The relief I felt when I heard about her delivering our baby and it also pained me to know that she was going through it alone.
She had complications during the birth which almost cost her life.
My cowardice and inability to reach a decision caused her to live alone, endure the pain of carrying of our baby alone, still she allowed me to be a part of our daughter’s life.
But I was excluded from hers.
It didn’t sit well with me.
“Mr. Wilferd, I have packed Tessa’s belongings. She can leave once she’s discharged.”
Her aunt’s voice pulled me out of my depressing thoughts and I nodded at the older woman with a small ‘thank you‘. I felt ashamed to face her. She had to lie to me because I was a bad husband for her niece.
“God has given you another chance so make it worth, Mr. Wilferd. Tessa decided to leave the country after the birth and planned never to come back. You can imagine how deeply she’s hurt by your actions and it won’t be easy for you to win her trust.” She advised me.
I could feel her displeasure even when she was talking to me politely.
“You can trust me this time. I won’t hurt Tessa and do my best to prove her that I am serious about our marriage. It’s just not about us anymore. Our children are also involved.” I said.
“I hope you’ll live up to your words and doesn’t let them to become hollow words. Please, give her good care and don’t stress her.” She again advised me and I assured her that Tessa’s life would be different this time.
The day had finally arrived when I could take her back home. I already told Lucas about finding his mother and also a surprise for him.
His younger sister.
During the ride to the airport, Tessa was quiet. She was looking out of the window while I was holding our daughter because I wanted her to rest and sit comfortably. She didn’t object because weakness was clearly visible on her body.
“What are we going to call her?” I tried to break the icy silence.
“I have a couple of names in my mind but I haven’t decided one.” She replied briefly.
“If you don’t mind, can we wait until Lucas meets his sister?” I dared to ask her.
Something shifted on her blank face when I mentioned our son.

“Okay.”
That’s all she said in next six hours.
I wanted to talk to her and apologize in a better way but I thought it’d push her farther and complicate our already messed–up relationship.
“I am not going to live in your house. I have clarified it before coming here so don’t even try to convince me because the house doesn’t belong to me anymore.” She said once we left the airport after landing in our city.
“It’s still your house, Tessa because you’re still my wife and now everything I own also belong to our daughter. Please, don’t argue over this. I’ll leave the house if it makes you comfortable.” I tried to persuade her.
She sighed and looked down at the baby who was in her lap now.
“Logan, please, don’t make it hard for me to breathe in your presence. I agreed to come back but it doesn’t mean that I’ll become your trophy wife again and do whatever you say.” Her words were sharp.
I missed the warmth that she used in the past. This woman was different from the one I had known for years.
And I was the one to bring this change in her.
“Then where are you planning to stay?” I asked her calmly.
“I talked to Ruby and she agreed to lend me her condo until I find a new place.” She replied.
