“Mommy, how did she come? Was she in your belly?”
Lucas asked me innocently. His cuteness made me chuckle.

“Yes, she was in my belly that’s why I can’t hug you tightly for a week or two.” I replied to him.
We were sitting on the sofa for a comfortable position. Logan was with his daughter. No matter how much his presence was making me uneasy, I couldn’t stop him from seeing his daughter if I didn’t wish for legal drama.
I didn’t want to fight for custody for a small baby. She’s too small to go through this.
“Mommy, please, come with me and Dad. I don’t want to live there without you and Lena.” Lucas requested me with those eyes staring at me with longingness.
I felt conflicted. I didn’t want to break his heart again but going back to the same house was impossible for me.
I had taken a decision the night when I left Logan and there was no going back.
“Lucas, there’s a few things that I need to settle first so Mommy must live here but you can come here to meet me and your sister any time you want.” I tried my best to pick the right words so his feelings wouldn’t be hurt.
I guessed I failed because sadness flashed on his face upon hearing my negative response.
He lowered his head.
His silence killed me more than anything.
“You and Dad are fighting, right?” He looked up at me with his eyes welled up with tears.
I cupped his face and kissed his forehead.
“The things between your Dad and me are complicated but it doesn’t mean that I love you any less. My love for you is the same. I hope one day when you’ll grow up, you’d understand.” I said with equal pain.
He nodded his head slowly.
“Can I come here tomorrow after school?” He asked.
“Of course, you can come here any time.” I stroked his hairs.
The smile on his face relieved me.
“I’ll come here every day until you come back home and we can live like a family with Lena.” He said.
I only smiled in response because I doubted if I could ever go back to the same routine.
“Lucas, can I ask you something?” I thought for a while and decided to ask Lucas,
“Yes, Mommy.” He nodded his head.
I licked my lips before asking him, “Do you meet Raelynn or is she in your contact?”
I fidgeted with my fingers because the answer I anticipated, it already stirred something inside me, something bad.
Before he could respond, Logan entered the room with a crying Lena and my attention immediately shifted to my daughter.
“I think she’s hungry.” Logan said to me.
His voice gentle but I could see that he was anxious while his daughter was crying faintly.

“Give her to me.” I said quietly and he carefully placed her into my lap.
“Lucas, let’s go home. Your Mommy and Lena should rest now.” Logan insisted Lucas to take their leave.
“Dad, can we stay here for some more time, please?” Lucas was unwilling to leave.
Logan looked at me helplessly like he was apologizing to me silently.
“Lucas, it’s almost nine and you have a school tomorrow. We can come back after your school. Look, your mother is tired.” Logan tried to convince his son.
I felt torn.
As much as I wanted him close to me. I knew that I had no right over him.
What if his biological mother object?
I had no idea whether he got together with Raelynn or they were still unsure about their relationship.
“Mommy, I will come back tomorrow. I love you, Mommy.” He kissed my cheek.
