PART–078
Logan
“I should have thought before coming here and making a fool of myself.” Raelynn exclaimed, her voice full of anger and frustration.
“I am sorry, Ray. I was really busy with the work. You have to believe me on this. Ever since my father retired early, my responsibilities are doubled and I am not able to find a worthy person for the position of my CEO yet.” I defended myself.
I arrived forty–five minutes later for our scheduled lunch where she was waiting for me. The meeting stretched long and then I was stuck in the traffic.
I wasn’t lying to her but she wasn’t ready to listen.
“Logan, let’s be honest with each other.‘ She spoke and took a deep breath, “You have been keeping me in spiral ever since I came back. Initially I was patient because you had a valid reason but this is a routine now. Whenever I try to bring this subject, you either leave or make another excuse.”
I stood there silent because I wanted her to speak first and calm down a little so we could talk about our
equation.
“Tessa isn’t here anymore so what’s stopping you now? Tell me, Logan.” Her eyes brimmed with tears.
I felt guilty because her tears were genuine.
“Ray, I am sorry. I know these few months were rough for us. I am trying to fix everything and that’s why I asked you to meet me today. We need to talk about us.” I said.
“Logan, I don’t want to hear anything because whatever you’ll say, it’d only leave me even more heartbroken. Please, spare me now.” She started sobbing.
I was in a dilemma again.
“Raelyn, please…”
I was cut again but this time her words forced me to swallow my own words before I could speak them.
“I wish Tessa was never brought to our home. I don’t know what my parents were thinking. They could send her to boarding school or to a foster home. She’s the reason of my pains and I wish she’ll suffer in the same way as I do. She ruined my life. She stole you from me.”
Raelynn’s words were full of venom and if I told her about Tessa and our baby. It’d certainly hiked her hatred even more.
So, I decided to keep it a secret until Raelynn was ready to listen.
“Let’s have our lunch first, Ray. I am sorry for making you wait but it was actually about work which I can’t ignore.” I said calmly.

PART 078
“You know what-” She slammed her fists on the table, “Enjoy your meal alone. My appetite is gone.” And with this, she picked her purse and left.
Fortunately, I reserved a table in a secluded booth so the others couldn’t hear or make scandal of our friendly meeting.
I also left the place as my mood was soured and returned to office to resume my work but I couldn’t
concentrate.
I picked Lucas from school and came to my house even though Lucas was whining to go at Tessa’s place.
I knew that Tessa wouldn’t mind his presence but if she wanted some space for herself, I had to respect
her boundaries.
“Dad, if you aren’t taking me to meet Mommy and Lena then take me to park because I get bored at home.” Lucas demanded in the evening when I sat down to finish some work.
“Sure, I can do this for you. Go and get your football or something you’d like to take with you.” I closed the laptop and agreed to take him outside.
In this way, I’d have time for myself and to get some fresh air.
The park wasn’t far from our house and it was safe with most of the kids familiar and friends with Lucas. He ran to play with his friends while I chose to walk by the artificial pond. My bodyguards were spread in the park to keep a close eye at them.
“This the best age in a human’s life. When I look at these kids I think they are carefree from all the worries that are waiting for them in coming years.”
I heard a man’s voice and it forced me to tilt my head to look at the person who stood close to me. By judging his appearance and the expensive, customized clothes he wore, he looked from a good family.
