The question which had been bugging me for a very long time, it came out involuntarily when I saw fear in Logan’s eyes. He looked worried for me and it was different from the usual care that he showed to me in past.

“I and Raelynn aren’t together. She still lives with her parents or at her condo. I would never cheat on you as long as I am married to you. I can never cheat my marriage.” he replied.

It was firm, confident and without any hesitation.

“Tessa, you need to trust me and let me take care of you. What happened today, it terrified me to the deepest core. I can’t imagine something even worse happening to you so leave this stubbornness and come home. Your life was in danger, it still is if you don’t take proper care of yourself and knowing you for years, I know you’re reckless.” He said.

“I can live in the other side of the house if my presence bothers you. I mean it. I won’t be coming in your way. Think about Lucas and Lena. You’re their world.” He added to put more weightage on his reasons to convince me.

“Logan, what happened in the past, it’s better if we part our ways and find our own happiness.” I said quietly.

“Aren’t you happy living with me and Logan? If your answer is a no then I’d not pressure you because it’s your life but think again, we have come this far.”

I was the kids‘ world but what about him? Was I a part of his world too?

“I want to rest for some time.” I said because I wanted some time to think about his proposal.

“Sure, I’ll be outside. Please, let me or the staff know if you need anything or feel any discomfort.” He pressed a smile and reluctantly stood up to leave.

His eyes gazed softly on me before he lifted his hand and carefully caressed my hairs before leaving the room.

What happened today, it nearly cost my life. What if I couldn’t make it to the living room to call? I’d be dead and no one knew.

On the other hand, Logan’s house was full of maids and other staffs. Lena would be in great care. Logan would also be there if we needed anything and most importantly, he’d look after us. All the medical facilities were at an arm’s length.

There were only pros, no cons.

But then again.

I’d be walking in the same labyrinth of uncertainty and unrequited love’s trap.

Sleep couldn’t find my eyes for a long time. They gave me liquid diet as solid food might cause me digestive issues.

I didn’t remember when I dozed off and when I woke up, I felt slightly better than the last night. But what made my mood light was soft cooing of my baby girl.

She was in her father’s arms who was sitting on the sofa at a distance.

“Can I see her?” I asked in a weak voice and he seemed to come out of their own world.

“Tessa, when did you wake up?” He asked and with Lena, he walked to my bed.

“Not a long time ago.” I said and when he lowered Lena, her face made me forget all my pain.

“Hey, baby. Sorry, Mumma couldn’t be with you at night.” I kissed her forehead and she smiled in response as if she could feel my love.

“She didn’t cry or fussed and had been a good girl.” He said glancing down at Lena.

“You were with her last night?” I asked with a frown.

He nodded his head affirmatively.

“Yes, I told Ruby to go home. She insisted to take care of Lena but she has her own life and a job so troubling her didn’t feel right to me. Besides, I wasn’t allowed to stay here as you might catch infection so I went to stay with Lena.” He told me.

I was assured of one thing, if I couldn’t make it during her birth or last night, Logan would take good care of his daughter unless he married the witch called my cousin.

“She must be hungry. She’s needed to be fed.” I said looking down at my baby.

“Let’s wait for the doctor and nurses, they can guide you better.” He said and sat down beside me with Lena.

“Are you hungry baby?” I rubbed her tummy and she made sounds.

“She understands you.” Logan smiled.

Later, the doctor came to examine me and changed my medicines so they’d not effect Lena. The nurse helped me to feed my baby who looked very hungry.

“Your husband loves you so much, Ma’am. He hasn’t left the hospital except for the last night and now, when you’re shifted in a private ward, he’ll be living in the adjacent room to take care of you.” The nurse smiled at me.

“He stayed here all the time?” I asked to confirm.

“Yes, I mean he’s running a big company and he’s a hardworking businessman but he put everything on hold because he cares for you the most.” She added.

I looked at her.

So, everyone except me really believed that Logan loved me and he was a dotting husband?

The awkward moment came to an end when the door opened and walked inside Lucas with Kelly who brought a tiffin for me.

“Mommy?” Lucas called out my name softly.

He hated to see me in pain.

“Yes, baby.” I softly called her.

“Are you sick, Mommy?” He asked me.

“I am recovering now. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine like before.” I ruffled his hairs.

“Ma’am, I brought home cooked meal for you, it’s light. You can eat. I have prepared it after Mr. Wilferd’s consultation with your doctor.” Kelly said.
