“Stop crying, princess. You’re a brave girl.” I lulled my daughter who had been crying after the vaccination.
Her face was red and it pained my heart because I knew that she was in pain and we couldn’t do anything to soothe her pain except pressing ice pack on the spot.
“Give her to me or your stiches will get stressed.” Logan said.
He looked in more pain than Lena. He couldn’t stop asking doctors questions after questions.
“It’s fine. It seems like you need a tissue.” I said with a roll of my eyes.
“She is in pain. You can’t blame me. I mean just look at her face.” He felt offended.
“Okay, don’t need to be over dramatic. Here, take her.” I said and handed Lena over to him.
“Princess, don’t cry. It’s okay. You are my brave girl.” Logan rocked her.
We were in the hospital gallery. It was surprising how she calmed down and her cries turned into sobbing. He was carefully rocking her.
I was sitting on a bench from a little distance and observed them.
The smile on Logan’s face was priceless.
His solo concentration was on his daughter.
My phone rang. It displayed Ruby’s number.
“Hey, Ruby.”
“Hey, girl. How are you and the little monkey?” Ruby asked.
“We’re good. I am at the hospital right now. It’s Lena’s first vaccination/day.” I told her.
“Oh, my sweet little niece. I hope the girl is okay now. Needles really pain.” Ruby said.
I glanced over Logan who was still patting the little baby’s back to calm her down.
“She’s with her father right now so I can relax. Tell me, how is life treating you?” I asked. It had been a very long time since we talked.
“I miss you and Lena so much. I wish I could meet you but coming to your husband’s house doesn’t feel right. Especially, when he wants to beat my brother’s ass.” Ruby said and it wasn’t wrong.
Anyone at her place would feel uncomfortable to visit such a person’s place.
“It’s n my house too. Well, legally I own it as Logan’s wife so you can come over to meet me and Lena. I really get bored by sitting idly. Maids are nice but ever since Lena is under professional nanny’s care, I find life more boring.” I talked to her.
“So, your husband hired a nanny for a month old baby. Is he trying to drift your child away from you? All the rich people do it.” Ruby said in an angry tone.
“Ruby, you’re getting it wrong. Even Lucas had a nanny. In fact, she is the same nanny who has professional experience of taking care of new born babies. He hired her because he didn’t want me to stress while taking care

of Lena which was tiring.” I defended Logan.
It was logical because I gave my consent when he asked me whether I wanted a care taker for the baby while I could rest without worrying for my kid.
“I can see that you still can’t see people bad mouthing about your dear husband. Are you still in love with him?” She teased me.
“I never stopped loving him, Ruby. Our feelings can’t be controlled by logic. But staying together isn’t possible for us. So, letting go of my love seems the right choice.” I replied.
There was a brief pause.
“Come over to my house whenever you’re free, Ruby.” I said.
“Okay, I’ll clear up my schedule for tomorrow because I really want to meet Lena and your son Lucas. He’s a cute boy.” She said and we ended the call after a minute.
I spotted Logan standing at a meter’s distance with a sleeping Lena in his arms.
“Your friend is coming over?” He asked.
“Yes, she wants to see Lena so I invited her at the house if that’s okay with you?”
He shook his head, “It’s your house as well and you can invite your friends anytime you want. You don’t need my permission, Tessa.” He replied with a small smile.
“I thought you’d have a problem with her because you and Adrian aren’t on good terms.” I stated casually.
“I had problem with him but it doesn’t mean I’ll be rude to his sister. Come on, Tessa. I am not a teenage boy.” He said.
I bit my tongue.
“Let’s go home. Lena slept with difficulty and I don’t want her to wake up soon.” I said and gestured him to hand
her over to me.
“It’s fine. I can carry her. She weighs like a feather and I want you to feel relaxed.” He said and insisted on carrying her to our car.
“Dad is coming over to see Lena in the evening. Don’t worry, Mom or Lea won’t come with him.” He told me.
“Good, I’ll request him to stay for dinner. I get to learn a lot from him.” I said.
It’d be Kevin’s third visit in a week. I felt bad for him sometimes/He wanted to spend more time of his retirement with his grandchildren but he was afraid that the toxicity from his wife and daughter might have a negative impact on the kids. So, he comes to our house rather than having the kids at his house.
