Chapter 124 Nobody Even Asked My Thought

Eloise packed up her stuff and took a shower. When she came out, she spotted a door left slightly open, with the light still on inside.

She walked over and nudged the door open with a single finger.

Grayson was sitting on the bed, dressed in black pajamas, typing away on his laptop.

‘When did he get those pajamas?‘ she thought to herself.

Eloise walked in and opened the closet. It was filled, top to bottom, with Grayson’s clothes.

She paused for a couple of seconds, then turned to him. “Care to explain?”

Grayson looked up from his laptop, rubbed his nose, and coughed twice.

He said, “Finn did this on his own. I didn’t ask him to. Who knew he’d stock up my closet like this?”

“Seriously? Nobody even bothered to ask what I wanted,” Eloise grumbled.

Eloise was speechless.

She rolled her eyes at the ceiling, muttered, “You’re shameless,” and stormed out, slamming the door behind her.

Grayson lifted his hand and rubbed his forehead.

He was getting more and more shameless, all just to cling to Eloise.

He’d even throw his own subordinate under the bus.

Eloise went back to her room, and her phone rang from where she’d left it on the bed.

Seeing it was Noah calling, she picked up right away. “Hey, baby!”

“Mom, are you coming to pick me up tomorrow?” Noah asked.

“Yeah, I’ll come get you right after breakfast,” Eloise replied.

Noah asked, sounding puzzled. “Mom, you’re not going to work tomorrow?”

“Nope, I’m taking some time off. We’ll go out and have some fun together,” Eloise replied.

“Really?” Noah asked, his voice full of excitement.

Eloise laughed out loud. “Really.”

After a moment, Noah said, “Mom, you don’t have to take me out. Just get some rest.”

He knew his mom worked really hard.

Eloise smiled to herself, thinking, ‘I must’ve saved the galaxy in a past life to be blessed with such a wonderful

kid.‘

“Baby, I really want to go out and have some fun. Will you come with me?” Eloise asked.

Noah’s soft voice came through the phone. “Okay, Mom. Where do you want to go?”

“There are so many places I want to go. I’ll figure out a list for us later,” Eloise said.

“Sounds good!” Noah replied.

“Night, sweetheart. I’ll pick you up tomorrow,” Eloise said.

“Night, Mom,” Noah replied.

After hanging up, Eloise closed her eyes, a small smile tugging at her lips.

‘Man, not having to worry about money is the best, Eloise thought to herself.

Her phone rang again.

This time, Juliette was calling.

“Hey, Eloise, did you call me for something?” Juliette asked.

Eloise chuckled.

‘Is this girl losing it?‘ Juliette thought.

“Did you win the lottery or something? You sound way too happy,” Juliette teased.

“Pretty much. I’m rolling in cash now,” Eloise replied.

Juliette was stunned. “Seriously? Did you really win the lottery?”

Eloise grinned, “Nah, Hayes Group let me go and handed me a nice chunk of change.”

“Oh, I really thought you hit the jackpot. How much did Hayes Group pay you? Like, a hundred thousand?” Juliette asked.

“15 million,” Eloise replied.

“Wait, what?!” Juliette practically shouted, totally stunned.

“15 million,” Eloise repeated.

Juliette gasped. “Are you sure you didn’t count one too many zeros?”

“Nope,” Eloise replied.

Eloise spilled the whole story to Juliette, like how Tessa drugged her and Beckett, trying to screw them over.

“So Cyrus shelled out 15 million just to keep things quiet?” Juliette asked.

“Yeah, but Cyrus only ponied up the money because Grayson leaned on him,” Eloise replied.

Juliette was speechless.

‘Seriously, having a powerful guy on your side changes everything, Juliette thought.

“I’ve moved,” Eloise said.

Juliette snapped out of her daze. “Where’d you move to?”

“Over on Clidale Road. Grayson signed the villa over to me,” Eloise replied.

Juliette was speechless.

‘Honestly, having a guy who’s both powerful and generous? That’s the dream, Juliette thought.

She’d spent six years with Carter, and all she had to show for it were a few designer bags. She was still renting, just scraping by.

In Ekloland, where real estate was insanely expensive, someone like her, a regular office worker, couldn’t even think about buying a place.

She used to live in Carter’s apartment, but after their breakup, she moved out and started renting her own.

Comparisons really did sting.

Juliette was feeling pretty salty about it.

“Eloise, I’m seriously jealous of you right now,” Juliette said.

Eloise was speechless.

Honestly, if she could just forget all the drama, having a boyfriend like Grayson would be a total win.

Juliette was like, “Girl, stop hesitating! Just say yes already! Go marry him!”

Eloise was speechless.

After a moment, she said, “Juliette, I’m just scared that one day he won’t love me anymore. If that happens, everything good between us would feel like a joke.”

Juliette replied, “Girl, you’re way too sentimental. Why are you so hung up on feelings? Nobody knows what the future holds. Maybe Grayson’s actually the kind of guy who’ll love you forever.”

Eloise chuckled. “Juliette, you’re so chill about life. So, what about you and Colton? Ever thought about getting serious with him?”

Juliette thought of Colton, the guy who was passionate in bed and always cooked for her.

A smile crept onto her lips before she even noticed.

“Not planning on it, at least for now,” Juliette said.

But honestly, she wasn’t nearly as carefree as she pretended to be.

After her last relationship, she didn’t dare open her heart again.

Eloise was different. She and Grayson were genuinely into each other.

Eloise picked up on Juliette’s mood and switched gears. “Juliette, I’m rolling in cash now! Let’s grab dinner after work tomorrow. My treat. I’m taking you out for a feast.”

Juliette grinned. “Alright! I want Australian lobster!”

“No problem!” Eloise replied.

“Wow, so this is what being rich feels like?” Juliette teased.

Eloise laughed. “I’m a total upstart now.”

Grayson opened the door and saw Eloise lying on her stomach on the bed, her pale feet swinging in the air, laughing happily.

He pouted.

‘Seriously? 15 million bucks makes her this happy? Is that really better than having me as her boyfriend?‘ Grayson thought.

‘If she married me, she’d get way more than 15 million,’ he muttered to himself. ‘She really has no taste!‘

Eloise was chatting with Juliette when she noticed something poking at her foot.

She turned and saw Grayson sitting at the end of the bed, absentmindedly poking her sole with his finger, looking grumpy and resentful.

Eloise quickly pulled her foot back, hurriedly said a couple of words to Juliette, and hung up.

“Hey, what do you think you’re doing?” Eloise shot him a look.

Grayson’s eyes sparkled. “So, is there anything you want me to do for you?”

Eloise’s face instantly turned bright red.

“Get lost!” she snapped.

Grayson locked eyes with her, his gaze deep and intense. “Not tonight? Come on, we’ve had a whole day off.”

Eloise looked away, her ears turning bright red.

“No,” she shot back.

Grayson paused for five seconds, then got out of bed and started toward the door, turning back to look at her with every step. “Eloise, really? Not even tonight?”

Eloise grabbed a pillow and threw it at him.

But she missed, and the pillow landed on the floor.

Grayson picked up the pillow and came back over.

Eloise shot him a wary look. “Don’t get any funny ideas.”

Grayson set the pillow back on the bed, grabbed her face, kissed her hard, then walked out.

Eloise touched her lips, her ears burning.

Just to keep Grayson from sneaking in tonight, Eloise got up and double–locked the door.

Even though she didn’t have to work, Eloise still woke up at her usual time.

By the time she finished making breakfast, Grayson walked in from outside, dressed in black workout gear.

His hair was soaked with sweat.

Eloise asked offhandedly, “You went running in this cold?”

It was crazy cold outside, especially in the morning, way below freezing.

She used to go for a run, but lately, she hasn’t bothered.

Grayson smirked. “Gotta stay in shape if I want to keep you satisfied.”
