Eloise nodded and said, “Quitting drinking is smart. Drinking too much just wrecks your body.
“When you get old, you’ll be dealing with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high blood sugar. You might even have a stroke and end up half-paralyzed.”
Grayson cut her off, gritting his teeth. “I’m quitting drinking because of you,” he said.
Eloise blinked and asked, surprised, “Because of me?”
Grayson shot back, “Because you’re allergic to alcohol.”
Eloise stared at him for a couple of seconds and said, “Yeah, but what does my allergy have to do with you drinking? It’s not like I’m the one downing shots.”
She suddenly caught on, and her cheeks flushed a soft red.
She teased, “Grayson, are you really doing this for me? You’re just thinking about yourself.”
Grayson rubbed his nose, saying, “Of course… It’s for you, too. What if I had a drink and accidentally kissed you? You’d get all allergic.”
Eloise rolled her eyes so hard.
Grayson grabbed the remote and turned off the TV. Then he carried her upstairs.
Eloise smacked him and said, “Put me down.”
Grayson joked, “Stairs are such a pain. Let me carry you. Save your energy for the real fun later.”
At Pinecrest Club, Rhys stared at his phone, confused. “Why can’t I get through to Grayson? His phone’s dead, WhatsApp’s not working. Did he move to the moon or something?” he asked.
Colton sat in the corner, looking gloomy.
Rhys walked up to him and said, “Hand me your phone.”
Colton lifted his eyelids and glanced at him, asking, “What for?”
Rhys said, “Call Grayson.”
Colton asked, “Don’t you have your own?”
Rhys said, “Mine’s not getting through. Let me try yours.”
Colton handed over his phone to Rhys.

Rhys muttered, “Yours can’t get through either! Where the hell is Grayson?”
Colton took a sip of wine and didn’t care about it.
Rhys tried texting Grayson, only to find he was blacklisted.
His eyes went wide. “Damn! Grayson blocked me!”
Colton finally glanced at him.
Rhys grabbed Colton’s phone and tried texting Grayson.
Rhys blurted out, “Damn! He blocked you, too!
“What’s his deal? Is he trying to cut us off or something?”
Colton asked, “Really?”

Rhys was furious. He was practically jumping up and down. “Has Grayson lost it? Why’d he block us out of nowhere? Seriously, this is insane! Too much!”

After ranting for a bit, he started feeling hurt. He said, “We’ve been friends for years! How could he do this to
us? I’m sad…
“Colton, aren’t you even a little upset?”
Colton said, “I’m upset, too.”
Just not for this matter.
Rhys slung an arm around his shoulders and said, “Guess it’s just the two of us hanging out from now on.”
Rhys tossed and turned all night, losing sleep over Grayson blocking him.
First thing in the morning, he got up and tried messaging Grayson again.
Rhys: [Grayson, did you get kidnapped or what?]
But it still showed that he was blocked.

Grayson went into his office, whistling a tune, only to find Rhys shooting daggers at him.
He paused and casually closed the door, heading for his desk.
He asked, “What brings you here so early?”
Rhys stormed up to him, hands planted on the desk, and yelled, “Why’d you block us?”

“And he told us not to ask him out for drinks anymore. He’s quitting booze. You know why? Because Eloise is allergic to alcohol! I’m so pissed off!”
Colton said, “Stop bugging me, my head’s pounding.”
Then he slammed the phone down without another word.
Rhys wondered, ‘Seriously, am I the only one losing it here?’
Eloise got a call from Hannah, who said Noemi had cooked all the dishes she and Noah loved, so they shouldn’t bother making dinner, just come over to Pierce Manor and eat.
Eloise couldn’t bring herself to turn down her, so after Noah finished his class, she drove him over to Pierce
Manor.
When they got there, she found Leo was there as well.
She asked, “Leo, you’re not at the office today?”
Leo pulled Noah into his arms, smiling and saying, “Nothing much is going on today, so I’m just relaxing at home.”
He’d been slowly passing the torch to Grayson. The company was running just fine without him. Now and then, he could take it easy and not feel guilty about it.
Eloise nodded, then turned to Hannah and chatted.
Before long, a servant came in and said, “Mr. Pierce, there’s a woman outside who says her name is Yvonne Pierce. She wants to see you.”
The servants had never met Yvonne before, so they didn’t know she was Grayson’s mother.
When Leo heard Yvonne’s name, his face instantly darkened.
Hannah’s expression turned cold, too. “What’s she doing here?” she asked.
Eloise kept quiet.
“Let her in,” Leo said.
