Chapter 143

A slender, silky hand snuck under the hem of his shirt.

Grayson stiffened.

He asked in a husky voice, “Not tired yet?”

Eloise didn’t answer. Her hot, damp lips pressed against his exposed collarbone, and her teeth gave it a bite.

“Ah!” Grayson hissed.

“Guess you’re not planning to sleep tonight, huh?” he said.

Eloise replied, “I don’t have work tomorrow anyway.”

Grayson was speechless.

He grabbed her hand, tracing the finger wrapped in a band-aid. “How did this happen?”

“A shard from a flower pot cut me,” Eloise replied.

“Let me take a look…” Grayson said.

“Nothing worth looking at. Let’s get to the real thing,” Eloise said.

She lifted her head and sealed his lips with hers.

The result of Eloise’s teasing was that Grayson kept her up until three in the morning. She was so worn out she couldn’t remember a thing, just crashed into bed and fell asleep instantly. Grayson carried her to the bathroom to clean up, and she was still half-awake the whole time.

The next morning, Noah got up and waited, but neither Mom nor Dad showed any sign of waking up.

He was starving, so he grabbed some bread and started munching on it.

Mom never sleeps late. What’s wrong today?’ Noah wondered.

He thought about knocking on their door, but was worried his father might yell at him.

‘Whatever. Let them sleep, Noah decided.

Bread just couldn’t compare to her mother’s cooking. Noah still liked her meals the best.

VirtuFusion Group.

Finn kept sneaking glances at Grayson’s office, then at his watch.

‘It’s already ten. Is Boss not coming in today or what?’ Finn wondered.

There were still a few documents waiting for his signature.

‘Maybe I should just call and ask?’ Finn thought.

After hesitating for a moment, Finn finally dialed the number.

The phone rang for ages before someone finally picked up.

“Hello?”

Finn was speechless.

‘Is he still asleep?’ Finn wondered.

He cleared his throat and reminded him, “Mr. Pierce, there are a few documents waiting for your signature. Also, you and Mr. Leo have a lunch meeting with Mr. Carter from Carter Group at noon.”

After Finn finished speaking, there was a long silence on the other end.

After a while, Finn heard Grayson murmur, “Be good, get some more sleep.”

Finn was stunned.

This was definitely not meant for him.

Then there was some shuffling on the other end, and the call abruptly disconnected.

Finn was speechless.

Ever since Grayson and Eloise got together, Grayson started neglecting work, too comfortable in his love life to stay focused.

Eloise rolled over and went back to sleep. Grayson tucked her in, then quietly got out of bed, opened the door, and slipped into the guest room to wash up.

As he passed by the kids’ room, he saw Noah already in class.

The teacher greeted him respectfully, “Mr. Pierce.”

Grayson nodded, walked over to Noah, and gave his head a couple of gentle rubs. “Don’t go bothering your mom, she’s still sleeping. I’ll have someone bring you lunch in a bit.”

Noah’s big, clear eyes stared up at him. “What’s wrong with Mom?”

Grayson kept a straight face. “She didn’t sleep well last night.”

Noah was about to ask something else, but Grayson had already left the room.

His brows knitted tightly, and his little mouth pressed into a thin line.

Grayson walked into the company and spotted Yvonne.

His eyes went cold in an instant.

Yvonne tried to step forward and talk to him, but Grayson spun on his heel and walked straight into the elevator without even looking back..

Yvonne stood there, frozen.

‘He still won’t even look at me, Yvonne thought.

She made her way to Leo’s office.

Leo’s face darkened the moment he saw her. “What are you doing here?”

Yvonne plopped down on the couch like she owned the place. “We never really sorted things out last time. Mom just keeps covering for Eloise and that kid, so I came to the office to talk to you.”

Leo said, “I’ve already told you, Noah belongs to the Pierce family.”

Yvonne shot back, “How do you know for sure? You haven’t even done a paternity test.”

Leo stood up, walked over, and slapped a piece of paper down in front of her. “Take a good look. Noah is Grayson’s son!”

Yvonne picked up the paternity test report, her eyes narrowing with suspicion. When she saw the results, she blurted out, “This report’s legit, right? No mistakes?”

Leo’s face grew even darker.

“Yvonne, if you’re here just to cause drama, then get out, now!” he snapped.

Yvonne pursed her lips and set the report down.

“Alright, whatever. I’m just trying to look out for the Pierce family here. I don’t want you guys getting fooled,” Yvonne said.

Leo snapped, “Anything else? If not, get out. Now.”

“Leo, come on. We were married, can’t you show me a little kindness?” Yvonne pleaded.

Leo rolled his eyes. “Yvonne, do you seriously not remember how we ended up divorced?”

“I…” Yvonne stammered.

“Alright, I’m not going to say anything unpleasant. Just leave,” Leo said.
