Grayson looked up. “I have a girlfriend.”

Harvey froze. “Since when?”

Leo chuckled. “He really does have a girlfriend. And not just that, he’s got a son, too.”

Harvey just stared, lost for words.

Leo added, “That girl and Grayson have been together since five years ago. They had some misunderstandings and were apart for a few years. My grandson Noah is already over four, and he’s adorable. Let me show you.”

Leo pulled out his phone, found a photo of Noah, and handed it to Harvey.

Harvey glanced at the picture, feeling a bit let down.

He’d been hoping that if Chloe could be part of the Pierce family, Grayson would lend the Carter family a hand, just for the sake of being in-laws.

He did not expect that the man already had a girlfriend.

Not only that, he even had a son.

Harvey quickly masked his disappointment and said, “Congratulations, Leo.”

“Thanks,” Leo replied.

Leo smiled warmly, took another look at Noah’s photo, then put his phone away.

Grayson lost interest and left early.

Harvey poured Leo a drink. “Cheers, Leo.”

Leo didn’t really want to drink so much in the middle of the day, but since he couldn’t do Harvey any favors, he felt guilty and just drank a bit more to make up for it.

After a few drinks, Harvey said, “Leo, about that project I brought up last time, could you help me out, for old

times’ sake?”

Leo looked helpless. “I’ve basically stepped back now. Grayson’s the one making all the decisions at the company. If he’s already turned down the project, there’s really nothing I can do.”

“Why don’t you ask someone else?” Leo suggested.

Harvey sighed. “To be honest, I’ve already asked everyone I could. I’m really out of options.”

Leo asked, “What about a bank loan?”

Vivian looked upset. “Your dad said Grayson not only has a girlfriend, but he also has a son. There’s no way you’re getting married into the Pierce family now.”

Chloe scoffed, “No way! I heard Grayson was messing around with a woman who had a child not long ago. It even made the news. They said she was the one who seduced him.”

“A woman like that could never be good enough for Grayson! And him having a son? That’s just absurd. I don’t believe it!”

Vivian said, “Your dad said Grayson and Leo both admitted it themselves. It’s probably true.”

Dustin spoke up, “I’ve actually met the woman who was in the news with Grayson. He really had her back. He seemed pretty serious about her.”

Chloe scoffed, “I don’t buy that Grayson would ever marry someone like her. He’s probably just having some fun with her for now.”

Dustin said, “Chloe, just let it go. You really shouldn’t mess with Grayson. That guy’s cold as ice and tough to deal with.”

Chloe shot back, “Cold? That depends. If I manage to win Grayson over, he’ll spoil me rotten.”

Joslyn rolled her eyes so hard that she nearly saw the ceiling.

She shot up and marched right over to the next table. “Chloe, seriously, have you got any shame? With that face of yours, you think you can snag my cousin? In your dreams! Go home, lie down, and keep dreaming, because that’s the only place you’ll ever get what you want.”

Chloe’s face turned bright red. “Joslyn, are you eavesdropping on us?”

Joslyn scoffed, “Please, I’m not eavesdropping. I’m listening loud and clear. Seriously, I can’t even with you. Talking big with zero shame, right in public.”

“Quit roasting me, Joslyn. Just wait till I marry Grayson, then you’ll have to respect me as your cousin too,” Chloe snapped.

Joslyn burst out laughing.

“Chloe, where’s your shame? Did you leave it at home or something? Please, stop making a fool of yourself. I’ve already got a female cousin, and you? You’re just a side character now,” Joslyn shot back.

Joslyn rushed over and dragged Eloise along. “Look, this is my cousin. She’s a hundred times prettier than you, and Grayson is absolutely crazy about her. You? Zero chance.”

Eloise touched her nose, totally caught off guard as Joslyn yanked her over.

Chloe gave Eloise a sarcastic once-over. “Her? Joslyn, stop joking.”

‘That’s the woman who was all over Grayson in the news, Chloe thought.

Eloise shot Chloe a look and said, “I hate to break it to you, but Grayson and I are actually together. We might get married in the future, and yes, we really do have a son.”

Chloe was stunned into silence.

She muttered, “Impossible…”

Joslyn said, “Alright, dream’s over.”

“Come on, Eloise, let’s get back to our dinner,” Joslyn added.

Eloise smiled and nodded.

As Joslyn and Eloise moved, Dustin glanced over and, sure enough, spotted Juliette.

Chloe saw Juliette, too.
