Grayson Pierce and Eloise Caldwell novel Chapter 166

Chapter 166 We Can’t Afford a Toy?

Noah frowned at the old man in front of him.

He knew exactly what “grandpa” meant. It was his mother’s father.

Noah replied firmly, “My mom doesn’t have a dad. You’re not my grandpa.”

Harvey laughed. “Everyone has a dad. Of course, your mom does too.”

Noah turned to Eloise. “Mom, is he?”

Eloise wasn’t worried about setting a bad example. “Just ignore him. You don’t have to greet him if you see him.”

Noah nodded. “Got it.”

Harvey was speechless.

“Seriously, is that how you teach your kid?” he finally blurted out.

Eloise shot back, “Mind your own business. I’ll raise my kid however I want.”

Harvey was speechless.

‘She’s really driving me up the wall,’ he grumbled to himself.

If it weren’t for the company, he wouldn’t even bother seeing her.

He figured kids were easier to win over, so he reached out with a friendly smile to take Noah’s hand, but Noah gave him a frosty look.

Harvey pulled his hand back.

“Noah, do you want Grandpa to take you shopping for toys? Is there any kind of toy you like?” Harvey asked. Grayson finally snapped. “Harvey, are you saying my family’s so poor we can’t even afford a toy?”

Harvey replied, “I know you can afford it. It’s just my way of showing I care. Noah’s my grandson, so of course I want to do something nice for him.”

Grayson shot back, “Late affection is cheaper than dirt. Save it. Eloise and Noah don’t need your charity.” “Grayson, once you marry Eloise, I’ll be your father-in-law. You can’t talk to me like that,” Harvey said.

“I only respect people who deserve it,” Grayson replied.

He really wanted to say, ‘Do you even deserve it?’

But he held his tongue. There was no need to stir up drama.

He was afraid Harvey might just keel over right then and there, and he’d have to call an ambulance.

Harvey looked like he’d just been steamrolled. He’d been getting humiliated nonstop lately, and now his face was downright miserable.

He couldn’t stand it anymore and turned to leave.

It seemed that he could only go to Leo.

Chloe was hiding not far away, wondering why her father was meeting with Grayson and Eloise.

She was too far away to hear what they were saying.

‘Is Dad here to break up Grayson and Eloise for my sake?’ She wondered.

‘That must be it.

‘Dad still cares about me. He’s making plans for my happiness,’ Chloe told herself.

Watching Grayson reach for Eloise’s hand, Chloe was hit with a wave of jealousy. She wanted nothing more

than to march over there and rip Eloise to shreds.

‘That bitch, stealing my man!’ Chloe fumed.

She shot them a venomous glare, but her fear of Grayson kept her rooted to the spot.

All she could do was watch helplessly as Grayson and Eloise got into the car with Noah and drove away.

Harvey called Leo. “Leo, I’ve booked a private room at The Mayfair Kitchen. Let’s grab lunch together.”

Leo replied, “No, I’m having lunch with my mom.”

“Leo, I need to talk to you about something,” Harvey said.

“Maybe another time. I’m really busy today,” Leo replied.

Ever since Vivian and Chloe came over to badmouth Eloise, Leo had wanted nothing to do with Harvey’s family.

Harvey said, “Eloise is my daughter. We’re going to be in-laws soon. Why don’t we sit down and talk about their marriage?”

Leo was speechless.

When Grayson and Eloise got home, neither of them mentioned that Eloise was Harvey’s daughter.

He was floored.

Leo walked into the private room at The Mayfair Kitchen and sat down. “What’s going on?”

Harvey laid out the whole messy story about his history with Lorelei.

Leo’s face darkened. “You’ve really outdone yourself!”

Harvey said, “I know, I was foolish back then.”

Leo let out a cold laugh. “Your affair has nothing to do with me. What really makes me angry is that you completely neglected Eloise for all these years.”

He knew Eloise had it tough growing up, never got much love from her family.

It was honestly a miracle she didn’t grow up twisted, and her heart’s still so warm and loving.

Harvey said, “I know I let her down. I’ll try to make things right from now on.”

Leo took a sip of coffee. “Make it up to her? You really think that’s even possible?”

Harvey sighed. “I want to make things right, but Eloise won’t give me a chance. She’s got a lot of resentment toward me.”

“Honestly, you had it coming. If I were her, I’d ignore you too,” Leo said.

“Leo, can you help me out?” Harvey pleaded.

“No way!” Leo shot back.

No matter what Harvey asked for, Leo wasn’t about to lift a finger for him.

“Leo, we’re family now,” Harvey said.

“Spare me. I don’t consider you family,” Leo shot back.

Harvey said, “I know you’re angry, but after all these years, you owe me this.”

Leo stared him down. “Why now, all of a sudden, you want to claim Eloise as your daughter?”

Harvey replied, “I just found out she’s in Ekloland.”

Leo shot back, “Ucrevine isn’t even that far. If you really wanted to reconnect, you could’ve done it ages ago. You’re only showing up now because you realized Grayson likes her, and you think claiming her will benefit you, right?”

Harvey had nothing to say, so he just kept his mouth shut.

“Leo, come on. For the sake of our long friendship and now that we’re supposed to be family, can’t you just

help me out this once?” Harvey pleaded.

Leo gave him a cold, sarcastic smile. “That’s a clever scheme, but too bad. I’m not going to help you.”

If he helped Harvey, he’d be betraying Eloise.

That kid’s been through enough already. Why should she have to be used by Harvey?
