Grayson Pierce and Eloise Caldwell novel Chapter 167

Chapter 167 I’ve Got Strong Genes

Leo was on the phone with VirtuFusion Group’s lawyer again, checking in about the share transfer.

The lawyer sounded genuinely surprised. “Mr. Pierce already instructed me to start the process. I’m still drafting the paperwork. He currently holds 42% of VirtuFusion Group and intends to transfer 2% to Ms. Caldwell.”

Leo replied, “Leave his shares alone. Transfer 2% from my own holdings to Eloise.”

Grayson was set to take over VirtuFusion Group in the future, so his shares had to stay untouched. They were crucial for his standing in the company and for the group’s stability.

Over the past few years, Leo had gradually handed his shares over to Grayson, leaving himself with just 8%.

With retirement just around the corner, Leo knew the share transfer wouldn’t make a difference to him now.

Eloise pushed open the study door, carrying a plate piled high with peeled pomelo segments.

Grayson was standing by the window, talking on the phone.

“Alright, Dad. I’ll go with your plan,” Grayson said.

He hung up and turned around, and Eloise promptly stuffed a piece of pomelo into his mouth.

He chewed, a burst of sweet and tangy flavor flooding his senses.

Eloise’s eyes crinkled with a smile. “Tastes good?”

Grayson nodded. “Way better than bananas.”

He hated bananas.

Eloise sighed, “Genes are scary. Noah won’t touch bananas either, not even a bite. And he won’t eat spinach, either.”

Grayson was just the same with spinach. If one tried to make him eat it, he’d spit it right out.

Grayson grinned with pride. “I’ve got some pretty powerful genes.”

“I hope Noah grows up to be as good-looking as you,” Eloise said with a smile.

“He definitely will. You can already tell he’s going to be a handsome kid,” Grayson replied.

“Haha, is this the first time you’ve ever called Noah handsome?” Eloise teased.

Grayson raised an eyebrow. “Really? I haven’t?”

“Doesn’t seem like it,” Eloise replied.

“Boys don’t need constant praise. He’ll get a big head,” Grayson said.

“Not Noah. He’s humble, polite, and super disciplined,” Eloise said.

Grayson was at a loss for words.

“Don’t put him on such a pedestal,” he said.

Eloise settled cross-legged on the couch with her plate of pomelo. “Hey, don’t tell me what to do. I just think my son is awesome.”

Grayson could only smile, totally helpless against her stubbornness.

He sat down beside her, grabbed a piece of pomelo, and popped it into his mouth.

Eloise tilted her head. “Were you just talking to your dad?”

“Yeah, you’re coming with me to the office in a couple of days,” Grayson said.

“What for?” Eloise asked.

“Just keep me company at work,” Grayson said.

“No way! I finally get some time off and I have zero desire to go back. Now I totally get why Jocelyn loves being off work so much,” Eloise groaned.

Grayson reached out and pinched her cheek. “You can chill in my office, play games, watch some dramas, and when I’m done, we’ll go eat together.”

Eloise shrugged. “We’ll see.”

She just brushed it off.

The Carter family was in chaos.

Dustin looked grim. “Dad, three of our projects just got snatched by someone else. The ones we’d only just secured.”

Harvey asked, “Have you found out who did this?”

“Not yet. No idea who’s targeting us,” Dustin replied.

Just then, Dustin’s phone started ringing.

He checked the caller ID and answered.

“What? Are you sure it was the Pierces?” Dustin asked, his voice sharp.

“Boss, it’s definitely the Pierces. They didn’t try to hide it. I was able to find out quite easily.”

Dustin hung up, his face darkening.

“Dad, it was the Pierces.”

Harvey nearly lost his balance, and Vivian rushed over to steady him.

“Honey, are you okay?” Vivian asked, worry etched on her face.

Harvey muttered, “Grayson must be getting back at me. That’s ruthless…”

Dustin frowned, confused. “Dad, why would Grayson target our family? We never messed with him.”

Harvey sighed, “It’s all because of Eloise.”

“Eloise? What’s she got to do with any of this? We never even crossed paths with her,” Dustin said, still baffled.

Dustin suddenly remembered something and turned to Chloe. “Did you do something to Eloise?”

Chloe sprang to her feet, looking agitated. “Don’t look at me! I didn’t mess with Eloise.”

Ever since Dustin told her how Grayson handled Tessa and Camille, Chloe decided to lay low and not mess with Eloise for now.

But she was still keeping tabs on them. If she ever caught wind that Grayson was about to dump Eloise, she’d swoop in to teach Eloise a lesson.

Dustin eyed Chloe skeptically. “Really? You didn’t do anything?”

Vivian chimed in, “This has nothing to do with Chloe.”

Chloe instantly felt more confident. “See, Mom’s backing me up! It really has nothing to do with me.”

Dustin looked over at Harvey, waiting for him to explain.

He had a feeling his father knew the real story.

Vivian helped Harvey, who looked utterly exhausted and weak, into a chair.

“Dad, what’s going on?” Dustin pressed.

Chloe jumped in, “Yeah, Dad, what did you do to piss off Grayson? That guy’s scary. He just snatched our projects without a word. What’s he going to do to us next?”

Dustin shot back, “And you still want to marry him?”

Chloe huffed, “If I married him, he’d never treat our family like this. Just look at those ancient consorts who

married emperors. Their families rose to power just like that.”

“Look at you, comparing yourself to Grayson’s royal consort,” Dustin scoffed.

“Can you blame me? He’s powerful and handsome. Just my type,” Chloe shot back.

“You’re such an airhead, you’d get chewed up and spit out without a trace,” Dustin retorted.

“Shut up! Stop arguing!” Harvey barked.

Chloe and Dustin finally fell silent.

Vivian gave Harvey a complicated look, like she wanted to say something but kept quiet.

Dustin could tell his parents were hiding something from him.
