The corner was kind of dirty, so the janitor pushed his cart over. He spotted a young woman standing right there.
He didn’t think much of it and just grabbed his broom to start cleaning. But suddenly, the young woman snatched the broom straight out of his hands.
He was just about to scold her when she began slamming the broom against the wall again and again, her movements wild and violent, her eyes blazing with fury.
The janitor was so freaked out that he dropped the broom and bolted, pushing his cart as fast as he could.
‘Guess I just ran into some crazy person,’ the janitor thought. ‘I’m not getting any younger. If she hits me, I’m done for. Better run while I still can.
Camille kept smashing the broom against the wall like she was losing her mind, not stopping until it was busted into bits flying everywhere. Only then did she finally stop, gasping for breath.
She hung her head, her face all twisted up with anger. She’d waited for years, put in so much effort, only to lose at the last moment to a woman who appeared out of nowhere. Natually, she was furious.
Camille had saved Grayson once, yet she received barely any acknowledgment from the Pierce family, and least of all from Hannah. She knew exactly where she stood in their eyes.
And yet, just minutes ago, Hannah had been warm and affectionate with Eloise.
Camille had just gotten back to the project office when a coworker called out, “Camille, where’d you go? The boss is looking for you.”
Camille composed herself and her expression returned to normal. “Just had a bit of a stomachache, so I went to the
restroom.”
“Better hurry then, the boss is waiting,” the coworker said.
“Okay,” Camille replied.
Hannah was sitting in the back seat, chatting with Eloise. “So, Eloise, where do you work these days?” she asked.
“Hayes Group,” Eloise replied.
“That’s Cyrus’s company, right?” Hannah asked.
“Yep,” Eloise said.
“So, what position do you hold there?” Hannah asked.
“I’m the General Manager’s secretary,” Eloise replied.
“Wow, you’re really impressive,” Hannah said, her voice brimming with pride.
Eloise had no idea how to respond.
“Then who’s your General Manager? Is it a guy or a girl?” Hannah asked.
“A guy,” Eloise said. “His name’s Beckett Hayes.”

Chapter 49
“I remember now. He’s Cyrus’s youngest son,” Hannah said.
“Yeah,” Eloise replied.
“So, how’s Beckett treating you?” Hannah asked.
“Mr. Hayes has been really good to me. I actually came here with him from Ucrevine,” Eloise replied.
“Ucrevine? Right, you said you grew up there, didn’t you?” Hannan asked.
“Yeah,” Eloise replied.

That was when Hannah remembered that Grayson had his first girlfriend back when he was working at the Ucrevine branch, but they broke up later.
Talk about coincidence. Eloise is from Ucrevine as well,’ Hannah mused.
“Mrs. Pierce, we’re here at Leanne’s Bakery,” Eloise said.
Hannah looked outside and nodded.
Eloise pulled over to the curb, opened the car door for Hannah, and carefully helped Hannah out. Then she walked Hannah all the way to the bakery. “Mrs. Pierce, how are you getting home later?” she asked.
“I’ll just call Grayson’s dad and have him come pick me up,” Hannah replied. She actually had her own driver and bodyguards, but she kept that to herself, afraid that if Eloise knew, the rides would stop.
“Mrs. Pierce, don’t wander off, okay? Just stay here in the bakery and wait,” Eloise said.
“Alright, I won’t wander off,” Hannah replied. She still wanted to ve a few more years and hold her great-grandchild, so she wasn’t about to do anything reckless.
“Eloise, don’t rush off just yet. Come with me,” Hannah said, grabbing Eloise’s hand.
She led Eloise over to the counter, bought two boxes of cake, and stuffed them into Eloise’s hands. “These two flavors are really good. You should try them,” she said.
Eloise didn’t want to turn down Hannah’s kindness, so she took the boxes. “Thanks, Mrs. Pierce,” she said, and then left the bakery with the two boxes in hand.
Once Eloise’s car had driven off, Hannah smiled and walked out of the bakery, her purse slung over her arm.
Hannah used to love the cakes from Leanne’s Bakery. But now that she was getting older, with high blood pressure and high blood sugar, her doctor said no more sweets for her.
She used to sneak a slice when no one was looking. Now, she stopped eating them for her health. She wanted to stay health so she could hold her great-grandchild one day.
A sedan was parked by the curb, and two bodyguards stepped out. “Mrs. Pierce,” they greeted her.
Hannali smiled, giving them a nod of approval. “Good job, not interrupting us. Next time you see me with that girl, just keep out of sight, alright? Don’t show yourselves unless I call for you
The bodyguards nodded in agreement. “Mrs. Pierce, who was that young woman just now?” one of them asked.
“That’s a secret,” Hannah replied. Her children never believed he when she said Grayson had a girlfriend. They joked she’d gone crazy dreaming about great-grandkids.
She wasn’t about to spill the beans yet. She’d keep it under wraps and secretly help Grayson snag Eloise behind their backs.

Chapter 49
When Grayson finally brought Eloise home, that would really shock them.
The bodyguards didn’t ask any more questions. They simply helped Hannah into the car.

When Eloise returned to the company, Felice spotted the cake boxes in her hands and exclaimed, “Ms. Caldwell, you like Leanne’s Bakery too? Their cakes are seriously delicious.”
Eloise handed one of the boxes to Felice and Bertha. “Someone gave these to me. Help yourselves.”
Felice and Bertha took the box. “Thanks, Ms. Caldwell,” they said in unison.
Felice took a bite of the cake. “It’s matcha. So good,” she said.
Bertha took a bite too. Then she asked, “Ms. Caldwell, did your boyfriend get these for you?”
Eloise shook her head. “No, an older lady gave them to me.”
“Hey, Ms. Caldwell, I heard you have a son. So, have you ever been married?” Bertha asked.
They’d worked with Eloise for a while, but most of their conversations stuck strictly to business. Everyone knew Eloise had a son, but nobody ever brought it up before, though.
Eloise set the other cake box down on her desk. “Nope, never married. But I do have a son,” she said simply.
Felice asked, “Did the father just walk away?”
Eloise replied, “No.”
Felice and Bertha seemed like they wanted to ask more, but Eloise had already sat down and started working, obviously not wanting to talk about it. They got the hint and didn’t push it.
