Grayson Pierce and Eloise Caldwell novel Chapter 71

Chapter 71 Transfer Her To Oniohull Branch

Camille waited all night, but Grayson never called her back. She started to wonder if Grayson already knew Eloise had a kid and didn’t care. Or worse, if he was actually eager to step into the role of a stepfather.

Camille was so restless she barely slept a wink that night.

The next day, she headed to the office and made her way up to the 22nd floor.

Finn stepped in front of her. “Ms. Hopkins, Mr. Pierce is busy right now.”

Word had spread all over the company about what Camille did. If it weren’t for the fact that she once saved Grayson, she would’ve been fired ages ago.

Camille absolutely loathed Finn. He was always blocking her from getting to Grayson. But since Finn was Grayson’s chief secretary, she still had to play nice with him.

“Finn, I really need to talk to Mr. Pierce. It’s really important. Can you let me see him?” Camille pleaded.

“You can tell me, Ms. Hopkins. I’ll let him know. Mr. Pierce can’t see you right now,” Finn replied.

Camille gritted her teeth and turned away.

She had no clue what Hannah was up to. By all rights, now that Hannah knew Eloise had a kid, she should be doing everything to keep Grayson and Eloise apart.

The Pierce family was already a mess. After all, everyone in Ekloland knew Grayson had called Eloise his first love.

Right now, everyone was watching Grayson and Eloise, just waiting for the drama to unfold. But up till now, Camille hadn’t heard a word.

Finn pushed open the door and walked in. “Mr. Pierce, Camille just came by wanting to see you. I sent her away.”

Grayson stopped writing and looked up. “Have HR transfer her to the Oniohull branch.”

Finn nodded. “I’ll take care of it right away.”

Eloise was checking Beckett’s schedule for the next couple of days when Felice

Bertha asked, “What big news?”

Felice lowered her voice. “Mr. Hayes is getting engaged to the Jenkins heiress. The engagement is scheduled for two months from now.”

Eloise froze, surprise flashing in her eyes.

As Eloise was leaving work, Tessa called out to her. “Eloise, I need to talk to you,” she said.

Eloise had no idea what Tessa wanted, but she was pretty sure it wasn’t anything good. “Ms. Hayes, I’ve got a kid at home. I really need to get back,” she said.

“You have a kid?” Tessa blurted out, her eyes wide with surprise. She didn’t work at Hayes Group, so she’d never seen Eloise’s background, and nobody had ever told her Eloise was a mom.

After all, Eloise looked so young. Most girls that young weren’t even thinking about having kids.

“Yeah, my son’s four,” Eloise replied.

Tessa blinked in surprise before asking, “Are you married?”

Eloise shot back, “Do I have to be married to have a kid?”

Tessa’s eyes sparkled. “Great, you’re not married. This’ll be quick, I promise. Just a few minutes.”

Since Tessa was Cyrus’s daughter, Eloise couldn’t really turn her down flat. She nodded. “Go ahead.”

Tessa asked, “How do you feel about Beckett?”

Eloise frowned, confused by Tessa’s quer

Tessa said, “Beckett’s got a thing for you, you know.” She had heard straight from her dad that Beckett was head over heels for Eloise and he even wanted to marry her.

Eloise didn’t say a word.

Tessa said, “Even though Beckett’s the Hayes family’s illegitimate son, if you’re with him, you’ll never have to worry about money.

“You’ve got a kid to look after. If you’re with Beckett, you won’t have to struggle at work anymore. Honestly, I’m all for you and Beckett getting together.”

Eloise rolled her eyes, then walked away.

Tessa grabbed her arm. “Eloise, don’t worry about Giavanna. I can help you deal with her.”

Eloise shook her off. “Ms. Hayes, Mr. Hayes and I just work together. You’ve got the wrong person.”

She knew Tessa was just trying to use her to break up Giavanna and Beckett’s engagement.

Watching Eloise walk away, Tessa stomped her foot, annoyed.

Just then, her phone rang. She picked up. “Mom, Eloise turned me down.”

Her mom’s sharp voice came through. “I’ve seen women like her a million times. She’s just playing innocent with you. Wouldn’t be surprised if she’s already flirting with Beckett when you’re not looking.”

Tessa asked, “Seriously?”

Her mom snorted, “Doesn’t matter if she is or not, you’ll never catch her. Your dad won’t stand for it. If she ever gets caught, she’s done at Hayes Group.”

Tessa asked, “Then what should we do? We can’t let Giavanna and Beckett get married.”

Her mom replied, “Doesn’t matter if we can’t catch them red-handed. We’ll just create some opportunities and make sure Giavanna catches them together.

“And make it as dramatic as possible. I want the Jenkins family to be completely disappointed in Beckett and call off the whole engagement.”

Tessa laughed. “Mom, you’re the real mastermind here.”

Eloise picked Noah up from preschool and was about to leave when the teacher called out to her. “Noah’s mom, I need to talk to you about something,” the teacher said.

Eloise stopped and gave her a gentle smile. “Go ahead.”

The teacher hesitated, then said, “Yesterday, Noah’s great-grandma came by and wanted to take him home. I didn’t let her. She asked me not to tell you, but I thought about it all night and felt you deserved to know.”

“Noah’s great-grandma?” Eloise echoed, a bit taken aback.

“Yeah, that’s what she said. The old lady was all dressed up and came in a fancy car,” the teacher explained.

Her mind instantly went to Hannah Pierce.

‘If Hannah’s calling herself Noah’s great-grandma, then she must know the truth about him. What about Grayson? Has he figured it out too?’ Eloise thought, her heart racing.

Grayson had come by last night, but he didn’t mention a thing.

Eloise was certain of it that if he knew, he’d have stormed over by now, demanding answers. The very fact that everything remained quiet was proof enough he was still in the dark.

But Eloise couldn’t wrap her head around why Hannah kept Grayson in the dark.

Eloise paused for a moment before replying to the teacher, “Thank you for telling me. Yes, that lady really is Noah’s great-grandma.”

She didn’t say anything more, just took Noah’s hand and led him to the car.

Not far away, Hannah was sitting in her car, gazing over at them, wishing she could join them.

‘My little great-grandson,’ she thought, ‘but I can’t even go over and hold him in my arms.’
