He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 103

Garry paused for just a second as he peeled the egg, then went right back to it like nothing happened. He put the finished egg in the bowl in front of Theresia.

Their eyes met across the table. Garry spoke first. “Teresa, what do you think I’m after here? Or maybe, what do you have that’s worth me scheming for?”

Theresia had tried to look into his past, but she kept coming up empty. Still, after a few encounters, it was obvious he had money and power.

She, on the other hand, had no fancy family, no connections, nothing anyone would want to take advantage of. She honestly had no clue what Garry could possibly want from her.

But something about the whole situation just didn’t sit right. If this was just about business, Garry really didn’t need to go out of his way like this.

Unless… maybe he was just a genuinely nice guy?

She shut that thought down right away. Garry didn’t strike her as the selfless type.

She thought for a second, then blurted out, “Are you interested in me?”

Garry’s eyes went wide for a split second. He paused, then let out a low laugh. “Teresa, I’ve got to hand it to you. Your confidence is impressive. But sometimes, too much of it can get you in trouble.”

Theresia felt heat rise in her cheeks. She dropped her gaze and pressed her lips together, suddenly at a loss for words.

Garry’s look changed. His eyes softened, and there was something deeper there—a sincerity that caught her off guard.

He tried hard to keep his feelings in check, forcing himself to stay calm until the moment passed.

If he had any choice, he’d never let another man near her.

If things were different, he would have already made her his.

His hand relaxed, fingers uncurling. His voice was gentle. “Teresa, there’s one thing you can always count on. I’d never hurt you.”

One afternoon, Manley, the president of Harrisburg Academy of Fine Arts, reached out to her through Jackson, who owned The Muse’s Atelier. The three of them arranged to meet at a restaurant.

Theresia and Jackson went way back. He was the reason she’d managed to embarrass Patti at that art show. Saying yes to Manley was really just paying Jackson back for the favor.

Manley was full of gratitude. “Teresa, having you as a speaker at our centennial celebration is such an honor for us,” he said over lunch.

Theresia smiled politely. “President Manley, you’re flattering me. If it hadn’t been for a few… unexpected things back then, I might have ended up as a student at Harrisburg Academy myself.”

Manley looked surprised. “Really? Why didn’t you apply in the end?”

So much time had passed, but those memories still felt fresh, like faded pages in her mind. She should have moved on, but letting go wasn’t that easy.

Back then, she’d gotten into her dream school—Harrisburg Academy of Fine Arts, one of the top three. She was so close to graduating, but in her senior year, a car accident left her blind. Leila had taken advantage of the situation, withdrawing her from the school without telling her.
