He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 114

Theresia listened, anger burning in her chest, but underneath the fury, there were still so many things she didn’t understand. “Why was Eric so desperate for you to have the baby?”

Naomi kept her eyes on her hands, speaking softly. “Leila was born with a serious problem. Her uterus never developed right, so having a baby was really dangerous. The doctors said no one could guarantee her child would even make it. Even if she did give birth, that would probably be her only child. But Eric wanted a son. He was terrified something would go wrong with Leila’s pregnancy, or that she’d end up having a daughter. That’s why he started thinking about my baby. He wanted better odds.”

It all became clear to Theresia. Eric just wanted a boy. If Leila had a healthy son, that would be perfect. But if she couldn’t, or if she had a girl, he’d have Naomi’s baby as a backup plan. He’d even thought it through. If Leila had a girl and Naomi had a boy, he’d just switch the babies, which was why he arranged for them to be in the hospital at the same time. What he never saw coming was that both babies would be girls. And he definitely didn’t expect Naomi to get her revenge by switching the babies herself.

Still, something didn’t add up. Didn’t Eric already have Felton? Why was he so obsessed with having a son?

Naomi must have seen the confusion on Theresia’s face, because she explained, “Felton isn’t Eric’s real son. He’s actually the child Eric’s sister had in secret. She died from bleeding out after giving birth, and Eric took the baby in as his own.”

Theresia froze, replaying Felton’s life in her mind. Eric always treated him well, but he’d never stopped Felton from joining the military, even though it kept him away from home for years. He also never mentioned bringing Felton into the family business. Now it was obvious. Eric never planned for Felton to inherit The Baker Group.

A memory flashed in Theresia’s mind. Not long ago, when she was buying bird’s nest soup, she’d seen Eric fussing over his mistress. He was so attentive, she’d guessed that woman was pregnant with a boy.

Theresia nodded, leaning against the car door. Her chest felt tight, the weight of everything pressing down. Hanson looked at her. “How did it go?”

She told him everything Naomi had shared. Hanson was quiet for a moment, then he shook his head and swore under his breath. “Eric is disgusting. Theresia, you have to take him down.”

She didn’t answer, but the thought was already there. Someone like Eric, hiding behind a perfect image, didn’t deserve to stand at the top. Monsters like him deserved to be exposed, for everyone to see who they really were.
