He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 140

“It’s him. He was on The Dialogue. I caught that episode. He’s actually a master of traditional rice paper making.”

“If Samuel says it’s rice paper from the Aurelian Dynasty, then it has to be legit.”

“So are we really saying this painting is a fake?”

“Pretty much. Latham died before the Solari Empire even ended. There’s no way he could have traveled through time just to paint something for the Aurelian Dynasty.”

Everything flipped in an instant. Now all eyes were on Felton.

With all the whispers and side glances circling around him, Felton’s hands curled into fists. No way. His dad was upright and honorable. There was no possibility he’d offer a fake for a charity auction. Theresia must have teamed up with that fraud to trap him.

Felton’s eyes burned red with anger as he jabbed a finger at Theresia. “Theresia, you really think you can twist the truth just by working with some scam artist? Not happening.”

Theresia looked right at him, a trace of sarcasm in her eyes. “If you still refuse to believe this painting is a forgery, there’s only one thing left to do. Even I can tell it’s fake. I’m sure a professional could too. Are you brave enough to have an expert authenticate it right here, in front of everyone?”

Felton shot back without hesitation. “Why wouldn’t I be? I want everyone to see you for the liar you are.”

Since both of them agreed, all that was left was to get an expert involved. Felton clearly didn’t trust Theresia, so she let him pick the appraiser himself.

Felton had some connections, and it didn’t take long at all. In under thirty minutes, a well-known art expert showed up.

The expert greeted Felton quickly, then stepped up to examine the Heron Scroll. He peered at it for a long time through his magnifying glass, his face growing more and more troubled.

There was nothing. Felton’s face turned stormy as he stood there, surrounded by criticism and suspicious looks. “This was our mistake. I’ll get to the bottom of it and give everyone here a proper explanation.”

“I hope you stick to your word,” Theresia replied, her voice steady.

Felton’s gaze lingered on her for a moment before he finally turned and left the auction hall.

With the last item exposed as a fake, it was pulled from the auction. Everyone thought the event was over, but suddenly, the auctioneer spoke up. “Just now, a generous guest has offered one more item so we can finish our charity auction on a high note. Let’s have our attendant bring out the final piece.”

The tension from before made this last item even more exciting and everyone was holding their breath.

With a bright smile, the auctioneer announced, “Our last item tonight is… the Heart of the Ocean!”
