He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 187

Theresia stared at Garry, totally thrown off. Acton’s hand was left hanging in the air, awkward and unsure. Should he stay or step back? He had no idea.

“Garry, what’s going on?” Theresia asked, looking at him with confusion written all over her face.

Just behind Garry, Warren looked like he was about to burst out laughing. Anyone could see what was happening. Garry was jealous, plain and simple. There was no way he’d let some other guy touch Theresia’s hand in front of him. Even if it was just a handshake, he wasn’t having it.

Garry’s face stayed calm as ever, but his words came quick. “Teresa, you’re really going to pick someone else just like that? Are you sure you don’t want to think about me a little more?”

His dark eyes locked onto hers. Theresia’s brows pulled together. Was he seriously acting out a scene right now?

Fine. If he wanted to keep the act going, she could play along too.

She pulled her hand away and shot back, her voice full of sarcasm. “There’s nothing to think about. Anyone who hangs out with Lawrence can’t be much of a good person.”

Garry almost missed his line. He paused for a second before catching up. “Because of Lawrence?”

Theresia didn’t even look at him. “You two are just alike. Garry, you should go. Let’s not waste each other’s time.”

Garry put on a show of being seriously pissed off. His eyes looked cold, almost dangerous, but if you paid close attention, there was a hint of something softer hiding there.

He snapped his lighter shut, the sound echoing in the room. He glanced at her one last time. “Teresa, we’re not done here.”

Then he stormed out.

Once they were gone, Acton let out a sigh of relief. Now that the tension was over, he was curious. “Teresa, who is that guy anyway?”

Theresia’s expression stayed frosty. “No idea. But he’s always hanging around Lawrence from The Lee Group, so I doubt he’s anyone good.”

Acton glanced at his colleague and they shared a silent look. They both understood.

Not wanting any more surprises, both sides signed the contract right then and there.

Theresia personally walked them out. Just before leaving, Acton tried to keep it friendly. “Teresa, looks like we’ll be working together a lot from now on.”

She smiled back. “Absolutely. We’re partners in the biggest shipping port in Harrisburg now. We’ll be rolling in money before long.”

Acton hesitated, stumbling over his words. “Well…”

Lawrence’s eyes narrowed. His voice dropped, low and cold. “Tell me.”

Acton flinched. “They didn’t say much. Garry asked Teresa to give him another chance, but she turned him down.”

“How’d she do it?”

Acton was sweating bullets now. He decided to just spit it out. “She said, ‘Anyone who hangs out with Lawrence can’t be much of a good person.’”

Lawrence’s cigarette snapped in half between his fingers.

Acton took a step back on instinct. Aaron caught on fast. “You can go.”

Acton didn’t hesitate. He was out of there in a flash.

Aaron looked at Lawrence’s stormy face and kept quiet for a moment. Then he spoke up carefully. “It sounds like Theresia saw you and Garry having dinner before and got the wrong idea. She must think you two are working together, that Garry is your guy. In a weird way, Garry helped us out this time.”
