Meanwhile, Julian strolled into the Sterling Group headquarters.
Everyone in the building recognized him and offered respectful nods as he passed.
He rarely visited the office. He knew Zara held a senior position here, but he had never bothered to learn her exact title.
He casually asked HR for her details and headed toward the top floor.
Zara had a private office on the exact same floor as the current CEO of the Sterling Group.
She was a Director, and her direct superior was the heir to the company—Julian's older brother, Sebastian Sterling.
Julian had never cared about Zara's corporate rank or her professional capabilities.
He found women who were fiercely ambitious in the workplace utterly devoid of charm.
He casually pushed open the door to Sebastian's office.
Sebastian was the quintessential untouchable elite of their social circle. He wasn't ruthlessly unhinged like Nelson, nor was he a chronic playboy like Julian.
Sebastian's reputation was absolutely spotless. Everyone agreed that with him at the helm, the Sterling Family's legacy was guaranteed for decades.
Three years ago, Sebastian had married a woman of equal social standing. To the outside world, they were the picture-perfect couple, deeply devoted and harmonious.
At least, that was the public narrative.
Sebastian looked up, mildly surprised to see him. "What brings you here today?"
"Just checking to see if my big brother is working hard. My monthly allowance depends on it, after all."
Sebastian chuckled, pausing his typing. "Did Mom upset you again?"
Julian opened his mouth to reply, but his gaze landed on the desk. Sitting right there were a lychee panna cotta and a caramel pudding.
The packaging was unmistakable. That boutique had very distinctive branding.
Both desserts had been touched. A tiny silver spoon rested beside them.
Whoever had eaten them had been incredibly restrained, only taking two small bites of each.
The smirk slowly vanished from Julian's face. He absentmindedly tapped the edge of the packaging. "How could I forget? You've always loved lychee. Whenever lychees are in season, the very first batch is always delivered straight to our house."
