He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 231

Nelson watched her tightly closed eyes and her blatant refusal to communicate. He gritted his teeth into a dark smile. "You'd better not pass out later."

He carried her into the bathroom and set her down on the vanity counter.

The massive mirror reflected their intertwined figures—the imposing, towering man and the petite woman pulled flush against his chest.

Juniper endured it without making a single sound. She bit her lip until it bled, and eventually, the overwhelming exhaustion claimed her.

She fainted right in his arms.

Nelson had been intent on revenge, entirely reckless in his demands.

It wasn't until dawn broke that he finally softened, pressing two gentle kisses to her bruised lips. "Happy birthday to me."

Wrapping his arm securely around her waist, he fell asleep.

At six in the morning, Quinn was already waiting by the door. Ordinarily, this was the exact time his boss woke up, but there wasn't a single sound coming from inside.

He didn't dare knock, opting instead to check back every half hour.

By ten o'clock, Nelson was severely late. Ever since returning from abroad, he had been an absolute workaholic, frequently sleeping at the office. Tardiness like this was exceptionally rare.

Quinn thought for a moment and instructed the kitchen to prepare a hearty breakfast.

Right then, the bedroom door opened. But it wasn't Nelson who stepped out—it was a fully dressed Juniper.

Quinn was just about to say, "Ms. Lane," when he noticed Juniper keeping her head down, walking right past him without making eye contact.

He froze for a second before quickly turning to catch up. "The kitchen made breakfast, Ms. Lane. You should eat something."

Juniper stopped in her tracks. The fact that he was offering her food meant that everyone in the villa knew exactly what she and Nelson had been doing all night.

This was supposed to be Nelson and Lydia's marital home. She dreaded to think what the staff were whispering about her behind her back.

Juniper kept her gaze fixed on the floor. "No, thank you."

Quinn knew how stubborn she could be. It wasn't his place to force her to stay, so he simply arranged for a driver to take her home.

Back in the bedroom, Nelson frowned as his arm wrapped around empty space.

He had been so thoroughly satiated last night that he had actually slept in.

He ran a hand through his messy hair and got out of bed. Not seeing Juniper in the room, he assumed she was in the bathroom.

He lazily walked over and knocked on the door. "How much longer?"

No response.
