Nelson's brow furrowed. A group of people trailed behind him, and right next to him was the room he was supposed to enter—Room 2109.
The onlookers started murmuring the moment they saw him. "Do you think Juniper did all this just for Nelson? She probably drugged herself and it backfired."
"I heard he was driven out of the country years ago because of how crazy she is."
"Having a deranged woman like her obsessed with you is a curse."
They kept their voices low, well aware of Nelson's notorious temper.
But the one thing everyone couldn't figure out was how Juniper was still breathing after harassing him like this.
In the adjacent room, Juniper had also heard the commotion. She had the distinct feeling people were talking about her, but she was alone in the room—what on earth was there to discuss?
Thinking she had misheard, she adjusted the hearing aid in her ear.
Nelson remained standing in the hallway. He was very familiar with Juniper's physique and knew instantly that the woman in front of him wasn't her. Just as he was about to speak, Lydia discreetly flashed the object in her hand.
It was a keychain Josie had given her.
Lydia gripped it so tightly her knuckles looked ready to bleed.
Nelson lowered his eyelashes, listening as the crowd continued to hurl insults at Juniper.
Lydia let out a quiet breath of relief. As long as Nelson didn't expose her, no one would ever know she was Lydia Thorne.
She kept her head down and moved to walk past him. She couldn't afford any more mistakes.
In the next room, Juniper was convinced she hadn't misheard. People were definitely talking about her.
She opened the door, intending to step out, only to hear Nelson's voice. "Stay inside."
The door was cracked open just a sliver. Through the gap, Juniper met his gaze.
He pushed the door open, stepped inside, and shut it behind him.
The gossiping crowd outside immediately sparked up again. "I heard Juniper intentionally wore the same dress as Lydia today. She must have been staking out this spot all night, hoping to run into him. And all this time, Nelson was right next door. She truly has no shame!"
