He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 271

Juniper heaved, and when he reached out to support her, she instinctively shoved him away.

Her brow furrowed in agony, as if she couldn't bear his proximity.

"Ugh."

Her stomach churned violently. Nelson handed her a bottle of water and ordered the hotel to bring up some oatmeal.

Her eyes were red from throwing up. They said the stomach was a deeply emotional organ, and right now, her emotional state was so horrific that her stomach was cramping in response.

She took the water to rinse her mouth. Once the intense wave of nausea passed, she leaned back, her chest rising and falling as she rested against the headboard.

Nelson grabbed a tissue and wiped the corner of her mouth. "Brooks said he's waiting for you to handle the burial arrangements."

She kept her eyes lightly closed, a cold sweat breaking out on her forehead. It was impossible to tell if she had even heard him.

The hotel staff soon brought up the oatmeal.

Nelson stirred the bowl with a spoon, then brought it to her lips. "Eat something first."

She had just thrown up water; having eaten nothing for two days, there was nothing left in her system to lose.

Instead of letting him feed her, she took the spoon, lowered her head, and managed a few bites on her own before tossing the covers aside.

"Juniper, you're too weak right now."

Ignoring his warning, she stepped toward the door.

Nelson hurried to catch up, only to be stopped in his tracks by her cold words. "No one in the Lane family wants to see you."

He froze. He had rushed over in the dead of night, brought her to the hotel to care for her, and even called a private doctor to check on her.

A flare of irritation ignited in his chest. He shrugged. "Fine by me. I don't particularly want to see them either."

Juniper didn't argue. Right now, she felt that speaking even a single extra syllable to Nelson was a waste of breath.

She slowly made her way downstairs and headed to Brooks's place first.
