He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 270

Nadine Lane was absolutely terrified of Nelson and knew he wasn't bluffing.

Besides, she knew the million dollars in her account had come directly from the Saint family. If she pushed her luck, they could easily take it all back.

The two houses she was trying to claim from Brooks were barely worth a fraction of that amount. Losing the million just to spite him would be a catastrophic mistake.

She immediately grabbed her parents, forced them to shut up, and completely stopped harassing Brooks.

Brooks was finally able to plan Beatrice's funeral in peace. However, since their family had very few connections left, the service was small and quiet. He planned to cremate her and purchase a burial plot, waiting for Juniper to recover so they could lay their mother to rest together. She was the only family he had left in the world.

But of course, that bastard Nelson had interfered again.

Nelson had forcibly removed Juniper from the hospital, taking her to a secure hotel room guarded by his own men, barring Brooks from entering.

Given his physical limitations, Brooks couldn't exactly fight his way past a wall of professional bodyguards.

He waited outside the hotel for an entire day until he saw Nelson walking toward him from a distance.

Nelson carried himself with his usual arrogant, dismissive air. Standing at the top of the steps, he looked down at Brooks with cold disdain. "How much longer do you people plan on dragging her down? Do you have no self-awareness whatsoever? The fact that you even have the nerve to come looking for her is laughable."

Brooks looked terrible. His eyes were heavily swollen, his vision blurry, and he was physically exhausted. He hadn't eaten in two days and had only just found the time to finalize his divorce papers with Nadine.

Nadine hadn't bothered pretending anymore. She had spat in his direction, sneering, "Finally, I don't have to deal with your pathetic, useless family anymore. I'm getting married the day after tomorrow. The guy is the real father of the kid. If you had any decency, you'd send a wedding gift."

She was like a leech, constantly draining him dry. Even after pushing him to the absolute brink, she still expected money from him.

For the first time in his life, Brooks truly saw her for the monster she was. He hadn't even bothered to argue.
