He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 295

It was well past midnight when Nelson finally found his release.

He went into the bathroom to draw a hot bath, hoping to carry her in, but she just curled up on her side. "Don't touch me."

Her voice was a barely audible whisper. She hadn't eaten anything recently, and sharp hunger pangs gnawed at her stomach.

Nelson brought out a basin of hot water, soaked a towel, and gently wiped the sweat from her face and neck.

Juniper lay as lifeless as a marionette with cut strings, remaining curled in on herself while he cleaned her most intimate places.

She kept her eyes shut, completely apathetic to the world.

Nelson wiped each of her fingers clean before finally taking the basin away.

When he returned, she maintained her defensive, unresponsive posture.

He bent down quietly, gathered the broken shards of the bangle into his pocket, and went downstairs.

Opening the fridge, he scanned the contents. He had enough ingredients to make a simple pork soup.

It had been ages since he had cooked. Gripping the chef's knife felt foreign in his hand.

He minced the tender meat and set the soup to simmer.

After simmering it for over an hour, he ladled it into a bowl, stirring it patiently to let it cool before bringing it upstairs.

Fearing she might swat it out of his hands, he brought an extra bowl just in case.

Juniper wasn't asleep. Her stomach cramped so violently that a cold sweat broke out across her forehead.

Holding the bowl, Nelson used his free hand to pull her up against his chest.

Without asking if she was hungry, he assertively pressed a spoonful to her lips.

Too exhausted to fight, she tried to spit it out, but he immediately sealed his mouth over hers.

"You can eat it yourself, or I will feed it to you mouth-to-mouth."

Disgust flashed across her face, but she ultimately swallowed the warm broth.
