Nelson set the dog bowl down. "Be nice to me from now on, and I won't bully you."

Moonlight squeezed his eyes shut, pretending he didn't hear a word.

Annoyed, Nelson reached out and tugged at the dog's ear. "Did you hear me?"

Moonlight instantly clamped his jaws around Nelson's finger. Luckily, the puppy's teeth weren't fully grown in yet, but it still pinched.

Nelson took a deep breath, roughly kneading the dog's ears a few more times to vent his frustration.
