He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 322

Juniper had always believed Beatrice did it for the money. Now that this assumption was overturned, only the most painful possibility remained: Beatrice had genuinely wanted what was best for her.

Juniper's throat ached. When faced with overwhelming grief, the physical pain in the throat was almost unbearable.

For years, she had resented her parents and dreaded any mention of the psychiatric hospital. She avoided recalling the details at all costs. But now that she knew the truth, a fiery rage burned within her. She wanted to retaliate against every single one of them. Even if it cost her her life, she was going to make them pay!

Perhaps her expression was too intense, because Zara reached out and grasped her hand. "What happened? With my current position, I can help you dig up more dirt on this Lucas guy."

"Thank you. I do need to know his recent whereabouts."

The director of the psychiatric hospital had likely met his demise; even his son Forrest couldn't reach him. Now, it was Lucas's turn.

But Lucas was a Thorne. Backed by the family's vast resources, he wouldn't be easy to take down.

Juniper took a deep breath, stood up, and left. By the time she got back to her car, a cold sweat clung to her back.

To this day, she didn't know exactly what Yvonne and Lydia had done in the shadows.

But she knew one thing for certain: the tragedy that befell her family was entirely their doing.

She pressed her lips tightly together just as her phone rang. It was Alistair.

Nelson's grandmother had been trying to play matchmaker between the two of them. But given Juniper's current transactional relationship with Nelson, she felt it was unfair to keep stringing Alistair along. She had declined his invitations to meet several times recently, but his next words sent a jolt through her heart.

"Juniper, I heard about your mother's passing. I also know about the two million dollars. You must really hate Yvonne, don't you?"

Very few people knew about the two million.

It seemed Beatrice had spoken to Alistair at the hospital back then.

She lowered her gaze, unsure of how to respond.

"If you want to make Yvonne suffer," Alistair continued over the line, "then be with me."
