Juniper walked out of the bar and headed outside to hail a cab. Lucas glanced around before suddenly grabbing her and yanking her back.
"Listen here, Juniper. You refused to submit to me back then, but now that you've run into me again, do you really think you can escape? My cousin is already married to Nelson and has his kid. Are you seriously still hoping Nelson is going to come back for you?"
Meanwhile, the moment Mavis saw Lucas follow Juniper out, she hurried to the private booth where Nelson was seated.
Nelson's back injuries hadn't fully healed yet. Julian had somehow heard about the ten whip lashes and had specifically invited Nelson out tonight.
"The Saint family's discipline—it's been years since anyone tasted that, hasn't it? Our Nelson really is something else. Even at his age, the old man still swings that whip with some serious power."
Nelson frowned, feeling incredibly irritated. "Are you done yet?"
Julian leaned back. He had been feeling completely off lately, experiencing a restless frustration he couldn't quite name.
Ever since he got married, his tabloid scandals with other women hadn't stopped. Just today, reporters had caught him at a hotel with a D-list actress, swarming the hallway outside their room for an exclusive scoop.
It was a critical period for one of the Sterling Group's projects. Zara must have received orders from Victoria, because she rushed over to do damage control. She was wearing the exact same outfit as the actress, climbed through the window from the adjacent room, shoved the actress into the bathroom, and locked her in.
Watching Zara execute this flawless maneuver, Julian found it highly amusing. "Where do you even come up with these ideas?"
The outfit looked totally average on the actress—perhaps Julian had simply seen too many beautiful women and grown immune. But it was his first time seeing Zara wear something even remotely sultry.
In front of him, she was usually stiff and formal, exclusively wearing conservative women's suits. Even living under the same roof, she never asked where he had been, no matter how late he came home. They didn't even eat meals together; she would always eat her portion first without ever inviting him to join her. Their dynamic was worse than mere roommates, because even roommates occasionally grabbed lunch together.
