He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 326

The reporters snapped a frenzy of photos before reluctantly dispersing.

Zara let Julian escort her to the car. The moment she sat down, she turned to him and instructed, "Your location was most likely leaked by that girl you were on a date with today. Your mother strictly forbade you from having any more tabloid scandals right now. If you're going to mess around, at least find someone obedient that you can actually control."

If something like this happened again, she wasn't sure she could clean it up so smoothly.

Julian smirked, completely unfazed. "Thanks for the advice. Anything else?"

Zara had already pulled out her laptop and started working. Even during this short ride, she managed to make ten business calls, her expression intensely serious—a stark contrast to the sultry outfit she was wearing.

As a notorious playboy, this was the first time Julian had ever rested his chin on his hand and seriously studied a woman.

She didn't seem to care about his gaze at all, remaining perfectly calm.

It wasn't until the car pulled up to their luxury estate that she stepped out to change clothes.

Julian followed her inside. Less than ten minutes later, she came back down in her usual attire, already on the phone with Sebastian.

"Sebastian, everything here is handled. Yes, I don't need to take the afternoon off. I'm heading to the office right now. Understood."

Her tone was always strictly professional, but Julian refused to believe anyone in the world could love their job this much.

Especially since Zara's ultimate goal was never just the job.

A mocking smile touched his lips. "I'll bring it up with the board at the end of the year to get you a raise. You're far too dedicated."

Zara's hand paused on the doorknob. She turned her head and looked at him indifferently. "You barely step foot in the Sterling Group's offices. Your word carries no weight. I'll negotiate my salary directly with Sebastian."

She invoked Sebastian's name like he was some sort of deity.

And that first sentence was a direct hit to his ego. Julian had never cared about corporate power before, but hearing her state it so bluntly made his gaze darken.

Yet, she showed absolutely no awareness of having said anything offensive. She quietly changed her shoes and prepared to leave.
