He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 333

Nelson was like a stubborn dog. He knew perfectly well this was a trap set by a businessman, a trap with giant flashing neon signs, yet he still shoved his neck right into the noose.

Admittedly, it looked surprisingly good on him. Nelson usually never wore jewelry. Aside from the occasional luxury watch, he kept his accessories nonexistent.

He looked at Juniper and nudged the other necklace toward her. "I'll just pretend you gave this to me."

Juniper couldn't believe someone could be so shameless. Caleb had brought this as a gift for her, and she hadn't even decided whether to accept it yet.

Nelson pushed the thermos forward. "Drink it while it's hot. I'm leaving."

Moonlight was circling his feet, attempting to hike a leg and pee on his tailored suit pants. Nelson grabbed the dog by the scruff of its neck and hoisted it into the air. "I've tolerated you for a long time. Pull another stunt like this, and I'll stew you for dinner."

Juniper rushed over. "Let him go!"

Nelson held Moonlight higher. The little dog yelped in terror.

Juniper's face flushed with anger. But Nelson was much taller, and he just kept dangling Moonlight by the neck, swinging the dog gently as a threat.

Caleb suddenly felt like a third wheel. He coughed, trying to find an excuse to leave, but heard Juniper cursing, "You're so shameless! Absolutely despicable! Give me my dog back!"

"Woof! Woof! Woof!"

Moonlight seemed to be cursing along with his mother, all four legs pedaling furiously as he struggled.

Nelson was honestly just messing around—after all, the little beast was incredibly rude to him. But seeing Juniper's face flushed with genuine anger, glaring at him with blazing eyes, he realized he had taken the joke too far. He slowly lowered Moonlight to the ground.

Terrified and trembling, Moonlight practically flew into Juniper's arms, burying his little head into her sleeve.

The next second, Nelson caught a sharp slap across the face.

His head snapped to the side. He saw Juniper holding Moonlight tightly, the dog still cowering in her arms.

His cheek stung. The flare of anger that immediately spiked in his chest was extinguished just as quickly. He clicked his tongue. "Was that really necessary?"

He hadn't actually hurt the dog.

Juniper ignored him, gently patting Moonlight's back.

Moonlight let out a series of pathetic whimpers, sounding incredibly wronged.

Frustrated, Nelson's jaw tightened. He finally shoved his hands into his pockets, pretending not to care.
