After a moment's thought, Caleb walked over and tapped on the window.
The window rolled down. Nelson sat inside, glancing out. "Speak."
Caleb didn't beat around the bush. "The rough stone Juniper won for us recently is being targeted by several powerful families. With the Harrington family matriarch's birthday approaching, there are too many people whose egos I can't afford to bruise. I'm going to announce that Mr. Saint has already purchased the pieces, and they are merely being temporarily stored at the auction house."
That way, no one would dare touch something belonging to Nelson.
And with the Imperial Green still sitting in the auction house, the foot traffic from people coming to see it wouldn't drop.
Nelson leaned back. He had underestimated Caleb in the past.
But Caleb's calculating nature wasn't obnoxious. In fact, it proved he knew how to accurately read the room and adapt.
Nelson withdrew his gaze. Remembering how this man had just shown up at Juniper's door, his brow furrowed. "Stay away from her."
This wasn't the first time he had warned a man off. The last one was Alistair.
Caleb remained completely respectful. "Rest assured, Mr. Saint. Juniper is my most valued employee. I have no other intentions."
Nelson didn't acknowledge the statement. The window rolled up, and the car drove off.
Caleb stood there and let out a quiet sigh of relief.
The bait had been taken by a willing fish. He had bet right once again.
Lydia quickly caught wind of the news. The Xavier family auction house publicly announced that the two Imperial Green bracelets had been exclusively purchased by the Saint family, though they were still on display.
Lydia hadn't expected Caleb to pull a stunt like this. She was so furious she wanted to call and scream at him.
But now that the bracelets were officially under the Saint family's name, causing trouble would force Caleb to burn the bridge completely. If that happened, Nelson would find out she was the one who orchestrated Corbin's attack.
They now held mutually assured destruction over each other.
Lydia's relationship with Nelson had grown noticeably colder recently. She couldn't risk Nelson finding out anything else right now.
She took a deep breath, her eyes burning with deep-seated hatred.
All she could do now was hope the other side would strike and make that bitch Juniper disappear for good!
Juniper stayed at home cuddling Moonlight, having already heard the news that Lucas had been permanently crippled.
She relayed the news to Mavis. Mavis was silent for a full minute on the other end of the line before choking out a tearful, "Good..."
