He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 335

Juniper stood calmly by the hospital bed, staring down at him. "Who stopped you in that hotel room years ago?"

Lucas froze, shock written all over his face. No wonder!

No wonder the scandal had never blown up! Juniper had completely lost her memory of that day!

Lucas began trembling with sick excitement. For the past two days, he had been living in absolute terror that Nelson would find out, which would mean certain death for him.

Secrets eventually leaked. He knew the truth would come out sooner or later, unless Juniper died.

But Lydia had yet to make her move, and Juniper was still breathing, leaving Lucas drowning in constant anxiety.

Now, a twisted sense of relief washed over him, and he actually burst into laughter. "How the hell should I know? Juniper, don't go thinking Nelson is on your side. You're not even worth a single hair on my cousin's head!"

Lucas was in agonizing pain. For a man, this kind of injury was worse than death.

But at least he was still alive. He regretted ever coming back to the country. He should have just stayed abroad!

Juniper leaned in slowly, looking at him with pity. "Lydia was the one who called you back to the country, wasn't she? Did you ever stop to wonder why she suddenly wanted you back? Did she casually mention I was in the city? Did she hint that you could make a move, and even imply that Nelson wouldn't interfere?"

She left the thought hanging, stood up slowly, and looked at him with tragic sorrow.

Lucas froze, his face flushing violently as he struggled. "Don't try to drive a wedge between us! If it weren't for you..."

He erupted into a violent fit of coughing, wishing he could leap out of bed and tear Juniper to pieces. But the pain radiating through his body was entirely paralyzing.

Juniper turned and walked away.

Panic gripped Lucas. What if what Juniper said was the truth? No, it couldn't be. That was impossible.

He had always had a great relationship with his cousin.

Sweat beaded on his forehead as he suddenly recalled his initial phone call with Lydia. She really had mentioned Juniper.

Hearing Juniper was in the city was like dangling a piece of raw meat in front of a starving wolf, which was exactly why he had rushed back so eagerly. Although Lydia had technically told him to be careful, she hadn't actually done anything to stop him.
