He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 348

"I have no idea what you're talking about, Juniper."

Lydia hurriedly pulled Josie up, her face a mask of righteous indignation. "There's no need for you to constantly pick on a small child."

Children were always the ultimate shield. As an adult, arguing with a child was inherently a bad look.

Juniper stared down at the crying little girl, a slow smile curving her lips. "Little girl, have you ever thought that maybe you aren't Nelson's biological daughter? The way you act is nothing like how Nelson was when he was your age."

The moment those words hung in the air, Lydia's face drained of all color.

Josie, who had been crying, froze as if she had been struck by lightning. A second ago, her tears were fake; now, she began to wail for real.

Juniper would never lay a hand on a child, but what was a child's greatest fear?

"Your dad might actually be someone else. One day, Nelson is just going to abandon you."

Josie's wails echoed down the corridor. "You bad woman! Bad woman!"

Juniper simply grabbed Alistair's arm and walked away.

Josie clung tightly to Lydia's leg. "Mommy, waaaah!"

She was only four years old. Juniper's words were nothing short of a catastrophic emotional blow.

Lydia stared murderously at Juniper's retreating back. She wasn't entirely sure just how much Juniper actually knew.

Swallowing hard, she irritably grabbed Josie by the shoulders. "Don't listen to her nonsense. Your daddy loves you the most."

Josie hiccuped, her eyes bloodshot. "I want to find Daddy."

She seemed desperate to confirm whether Nelson actually loved her.

"Fine, go ahead. Just be careful."
