He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 378

Nelson's eyes were icy, but his face was etched with hostility. "Get out of my house."

Lydia's chest trembled with rage. Fine, just fine. She was so angry she almost laughed, though tears streamed down her face. "Whether you believe me or not, I have no idea what you're talking about. Once you calm down, we need to have a serious talk."

She turned and headed downstairs, her eyes flashing with sheer malice the moment she lowered her lashes.

Juniper... What a piece of work!

Nelson turned back into the room and ordered a servant to clean up the mess on the floor.

He sat on the edge of the bed and checked the slap marks on Juniper's cheeks. The swelling had gone down a bit, but her eyes were still devoid of life.

She looked up at him, so calm, yet beneath that calm, emotions seemed to be churning.

"Moonlight is gone, isn't she?"

Nelson's Adam's apple bobbed. Just as he was about to comfort her, he saw tears sliding down her face.

She threw off the covers to get up, but because of the fever, her vision went dark for a moment.

Nelson caught her, holding her tightly. "I have people looking for her. Don't worry, we'll find her soon."

"Get out... Get out..."

She had no strength to curse him properly. She pushed him away, got out of bed, and headed for the door.

"Juniper!"

Nelson chased after her, not daring to pull her back by force. Right now, she felt like a dried leaf—one squeeze and she would crumble.

Juniper reached the front door. Still wearing her clothes from last night, she stood there looking fragile as paper.

Nelson muttered a curse, quickly grabbed his jacket from inside, and draped it over her shoulders.
