He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 405

Leo arrived leaning heavily on crutches. A piece of jagged metal from the car had pierced clean through his leg, meaning he'd be relying on them for at least a month.

The Saint family didn't cast much blame on him. They had also notified Reggie's family.

Reggie had devoted his life to serving the old lady, and no one expected his loyalty to end in such a brutal tragedy.

The memorial service was suffocatingly quiet. As the heir, Nelson handled every necessary arrangement before being summoned to his grandfather's study.

Arthur looked exhausted. He rubbed his temples wearily. "Still haven't found Juniper?"

Finding her meant her death.

Not finding her meant she was fleeing to escape punishment. In that case, the Saint family could simply involve the police. Regardless of the actual truth, their immense influence guaranteed Juniper would rot in a cell for the rest of her life.

"Grandfather, something isn't right about this."

The second the words left his mouth, Arthur hurled a heavy teacup straight at him.

In the past, Nelson would have dodged. Today, he didn't move an inch. The cup smashed into his forehead, instantly drawing a stream of blood.

Arthur looked momentarily stunned that he hadn't dodged. He frowned deeply, then slowly let his expression smooth out. His oppressive aura saturated the room. He scoffed coldly. "Have you forgotten your own last name?"

A woman from the absolute bottom of the barrel had completely bewitched his grandson, making him spout such nonsense when the evidence was irrefutable.

Blood trickled down Nelson's face. He lowered his gaze. "I will find Juniper and get the truth out of her."

Arthur said nothing more. He had lived apart from his wife for years, only seeing her briefly during the holidays. Even the deepest love would erode under such prolonged indifference. Ironically, out of the entire family, Nelson had been the closest to her, and her death had shattered him the most.

Arthur didn't even need to apply pressure; he knew Nelson would tear the city apart to investigate.

But there were no cameras on that mountain road, nor any in the village. The only two witnesses simply stated they had seen Leo driving away with the old lady. Beyond that, it was a ghost town.

Reggie's body had been returned to his family and already cremated.

Nelson had sent teams to scour the cliffs, but everything perfectly corroborated Leo's story.

Dark currents surged within the Saint family, and every single eye was fixed on Juniper.
