Lydia wasn't particularly panicked. After all, Yvonne was the mastermind behind that entire operation.
So, she casually brought it up while visiting Yvonne. Yvonne merely took a slow, elegant sip of her tea.
"That psychiatric ward was already on the verge of bankruptcy. There were only five staff members left, including the director. Two of them have already passed away from illness, and the other two moved out of state. My people will locate them long before Nelson does and ensure they disappear quietly."
Beatrice was already dead, and dead women couldn't testify. Plus, the neighbors in Oakley would all swear Beatrice orchestrated the whole thing. Yvonne had extracted herself flawlessly.
If she had the nerve to do it back then, she knew exactly how to ensure Nelson would never trace it back to her.
Yvonne gracefully set her teacup down. "Besides, your grandfather has personally intervened because of the old lady's death. Juniper's days are numbered."
A sickeningly satisfied smile crept onto Lydia's face, and she let out a long breath of relief.
She was incredibly pleased with Leo's performance. He hadn't even laid a finger on Juniper directly. It was a brilliant, flawless execution. It meant every single word Juniper said in her defense would sound like a desperate, baseless lie. The entire weight of the old lady's murder rested squarely on Juniper's shoulders, and it was a weight that would undoubtedly crush her.
Lydia figured she could finally sleep soundly for the foreseeable future.
She quickly texted Leo. He was the rabid dog she kept on a leash, capable of anything. But when you make deals with rabid dogs, you have to offer substantial rewards, or the leash might snap.
The injuries Leo sustained were entirely real. He would genuinely need a month to fully recover.
No one knew about their twisted alliance, and she had to ensure they absolutely did not see each other in the near future.
Meanwhile, when Juniper finally woke up in the manor, she stared blankly out at the lotus pond.
She wasn't particularly close to Jasmine, and the woman's chillingly stoic nature meant they barely spoke even after Juniper woke up.
