He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 105

Sylvia looked up at Gwen with a triumphant smirk, while Corinne and Gwen exchanged a glance overflowing with sadistic pleasure.

Gwen crossed her arms and sauntered over to Scarlett, her eyes dripping with arrogant superiority.

"Your mother was so incredibly haughty before your father's downfall. She paraded around, using her status as the heiress of the Langley family to look down on the rest of us."

"But what did that get her? Within a few short years, her family collapsed. Your father went bankrupt, grabbed your aunt and your brother, and fled the country with whatever cash was left. Your family hit rock bottom, drowning in debt. By the time your mother realized he had secretly liquidated all the valuable assets, it was far too late."

Scarlett listened in dead silence, her hand moving in a steady rhythm, landing one brutal slap after another on her own bruised cheeks.

"Your family owed tens of millions of dollars to everyone in our circle combined. Naturally, we showed up at her door demanding our money back. That's only fair, isn't it?"

"Eventually, your mother came crawling to us. She said the mafia goons were showing up every single day, threatening her until she was on the verge of a mental breakdown. She begged us, asking what she had to do for us to give her an extension, asking if we just wanted her dead."

By now, both sides of Scarlett's face were severely swollen, but her hands never stopped moving.

She knew she was terrifyingly close to the truth... and suddenly, she started hitting herself even harder.

Smack! Smack! Smack!

The crisp, violent sound of flesh hitting flesh fed a twisted sense of gratification deep in Gwen's twisted soul.

Her eyes gleamed with pure malice as she painted the picture with vivid detail.

"She used to be so untouchable, prancing around like a peacock at every society gala, trying to catch every man's eye. Every single one of our fiances couldn't stop praising her, crowning her Bay City's number one socialite... Bah! With that kind of flashy arrogance, she was practically begging for karma to ruin her!"

"Tsk, tsk. You're pretty hardcore, aren't you? Your face is blown up like a balloon, and you still want to hear the rest? You really are a ruthless piece of work, just like your mother."

"Corinne, my throat is getting dry. You take over."

Gwen dramatically faked a yawn, lazily tossing the floor over to her sister.

Corinne had been practically vibrating with impatience. Her words were meticulously sharpened daggers, aimed directly at Scarlett's heart.

"Turns out, your mother was a natural-born whore! In a single night, she actually managed to successfully seduce twenty men. And those idiots were actually willing to shell out ten thousand dollars a pop for her. One of the big spenders even dropped half a million dollars on her in one go. Unbelievable..."

"When she finally brought the cash to us, she reeked of cheap booze so badly it could have choked a horse. And that look in her eyes—my god, after a few drinks, she was as loose and pathetic as any streetwalker. There was absolutely no difference."
