He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 1058

The brutal impacts forced a pained grunt from Julian's lips, his jaw clenched tight against the agony.

Seeing Scarlett still frozen in horror, two of the thugs broke off from the fight and charged toward her with sick grins on their faces.

"Scarlett! What are you doing?! Run! Get out of here and get help!"

Julian roared desperately, fighting to stay on his feet.

Scarlett bit down hard on her lip. Every instinct screamed at her to stay and fight by his side, but his desperate shout snapped her back to reality.

Seeing the two men closing the distance, she turned and sprinted toward the garage exit with everything she had.

The men gave chase, their fingers practically brushing the back of her jacket.

She ran for her life, and just in the nick of time, the deafening roar of a high-performance engine echoed from the entrance ramp.

A blinding neon-green blur shot down the incline like a missile.

Before the thugs even registered what was happening, the supercar executed a flawless, screeching drift, sliding horizontally to a halt right between Scarlett and her pursuers, forming an impenetrable steel wall.

"Zachary!"

Scarlett gasped, her eyes lighting up as she recognized her brother’s rigid silhouette in the driver’s seat.

Zachary gave her a single, flat glance. A second later, the roof of the convertible retracted.

Standing up in the driver's seat, Zachary raised a handgun with terrifying speed. Aiming directly at the concrete by the thugs' feet, he fired twice.

*Bang! Bang!*

"You have thirty seconds," Zachary said, his voice a low, lethal drawl. "Get the hell out of here, or the next ones go in your heads."

A chilling, suffocating aura radiated from him. His dark eyes were completely dead, devoid of any human warmth.

Reaching over, he popped the passenger door open and gave Scarlett a curt nod, signaling her to get in.

Scarlett stared at him, absolutely starstruck. Her brother looked like a god of war who had just descended from the heavens. The sheer, terrifyingly cool presence he commanded had the whole garage frozen in place.

It was like a scene ripped straight out of a Hollywood action movie, playing out right in front of her.
