Scarlett glanced at Julian instinctively, a flicker of confusion rising in her heart.
Could it be that the Julian who was always right by her side had some kind of hidden profession or secret mission too?
Though the thought crossed her mind, she didn't ask it out loud, deciding to keep her questions to herself for the time being.
After all, she and Julian had built a deep foundation of trust. If he wasn't ready to tell her, she believed he had a good reason.
Plus, with so many people around, this definitely wasn't the time to press the issue.
By the time everything was fully resolved, it was nearing five in the morning.
The soft morning light began to break as the sun rose steadily in the east, casting a warm glow over the thousand-year-old Breeze Pagoda, accentuating its deep historical charm.
This was the second time Scarlett and Julian had returned since that late-night rescue of Madeleine Dawson.
Even though the cultural tourism project Veronica had been running was forced into suspension before any damage could be done to the pagoda, Scarlett still felt uneasy. She climbed to the top of the structure, meticulously inspecting several previously restored areas. Only after confirming that everything was completely intact did she finally let out a sigh of relief.
Standing at the top, looking down at the halted tourism town project originally backed by Veronica and Yardley, Scarlett felt a twinge of regret.
As if reading her mind, Julian stepped up and wrapped an arm gently around her shoulders.
"Actually, there's still a chance to salvage that suspended project," he said softly.
Scarlett turned to look at him.
"What do you mean?"
He gave a small smile.
"I heard Veronica is desperate to sell off the project right now. The asking price is very low because, to her, it's failed to meet her expectations—"
Her heart did a little leap.
