He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 125

Scarlett didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

When did her mother become even more ruthless and arrogant than she was? Did her time in Australia change her that much?

Or maybe... a bold theory formed in her mind, but she kept her mouth shut. Now wasn't the time to ask.

Sylvia's bloodcurdling wails quickly drew a crowd of doctors, nurses, security guards, and her mother, Gwen Quinn.

Gwen sprinted over in a panic. Seeing her daughter sobbing on the floor, and then looking up to see Scarlett and Jacqueline standing side by side, Gwen saw red.

“Jacqueline! You laid your hands on my daughter, didn't you?!”

“Do the two of you think the law doesn't apply to you? Believe me, I'll have both of you locked up tonight!”

“Where's your hospital director?! Call him right now! Have him call the cops and get this lunatic arrested! The hallway cameras caught everything. It's intentional assault, and she won't get away with it!”

Gwen pointed an accusatory finger right in Jacqueline's face, ranting with vicious arrogance.

Gwen was draped in an expensive fur coat, her makeup immaculate. Jacqueline, on the other hand, had changed into comfortable loungewear and removed her makeup earlier.

The contrast was stark—one looked like high society, the other entirely average.

Given the severity of the situation and the fact that it was happening in the VIP wing, the attending doctor subtly signaled the head nurse to go fetch the director.

Jacqueline, meanwhile, simply crossed her arms. She watched Gwen throw her tantrum with total serenity.

“Tsk, tsk. I was wondering why your daughter was so perfectly fine with being the other woman knowingly, having zero shame. I guess the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree.”

That effortless jab made Gwen's face turn purple with rage.

“Who the hell do you think you're talking to, Jacqueline? You and your daughter are the trashy ones—just as aggressive and overbearing as each other!”

“My daughter married a Croft! When was she ever the other woman? Stop spewing your garbage!”

Jacqueline let out a dark chuckle.

“Joined the Croft family, did she? How impressive. But tell me, after climbing the social ladder so high, how could she bring herself to feed her precious baby sleeping pills?”

“Wasn't that your darling daughter crying her eyes out in the hallway just a minute ago, begging her man not to leave and playing the victim?”

“It's truly ruthless. Her son was born on the same day as my granddaughter, wasn't he? Only two months old, and she's already drugging him. Makes you wonder if he's even a Croft, considering how eager she seems to get rid of him.”

Despite spending the last few months recovering in Australia, Jacqueline had kept a close eye on all the gossip and drama back home.

Especially after Talia Gray had called her, she had been incredibly worried about the safety of her daughter and granddaughter. She had immediately hired people to investigate everything.

Thank God Scarlett had finally stopped thinking with her heart and started using her brain. Every move Scarlett had made recently had been deeply satisfying.

Had Scarlett remained a pushover, Jacqueline would have flown back the moment she woke up from surgery instead of waiting this long.

Two solid months of repressed fury transformed into heavy artillery, and Jacqueline fired off shot after devastating shot. Gwen was left flushed, dumbfounded, and entirely speechless.
