Corinne Quinn was currently resting at home.
She was lying on the living room sofa with her eyes closed when Clarissa Flynn stormed in, her face dark with anger, and headed straight for the stairs.
Corinne opened an eye and immediately started making snide remarks. "Well, well, if it isn't the peacemaker who went to grovel to Scarlett. What's wrong? Did she put you in your place?"
Clarissa froze, whipping around to shoot her mother a furious glare. "This is all your fault! If you had treated Scarlett with even a sliver of decency, we wouldn't be in this mess."
"Your son's marriage is completely unsalvageable. It's over. Are you happy now?"
Corinne let out a triumphant scoff, her tone smug. "I warned you all! I told you that woman was trouble, but you wouldn't listen. You actually took her side!"
"Now you finally see her true colors, don't you? Are you still going to defend her?"
Clarissa angrily stomped over and sat down next to Corinne. Remembering how Scarlett and Talia had mercilessly torn into her at the restaurant, her blood boiled. "You're right about one thing, you give some women an inch and they take a mile!"
"I honestly thought Scarlett was reasonable, so I tried to extend an olive branch. I didn't expect her to throw it right back in my face! Mom, I officially support Yardley divorcing her. But the child..."
After suppressing her frustration for so long, Corinne was thrilled to finally hear some validation. She slapped Clarissa on the shoulder excitedly. "Now you get it! Letting a woman like that marry into the Flynn family was always going to end in disaster."
"And what kind of child do you think she's going to raise? Like mother, like daughter! If you ask me, we don't need the kid!"
"We know dozens of elite socialites. Any one of them would be a million times better for your brother! I say let them divorce, and let her keep the kid! It'll make it so much easier for Yardley to find a new wife if he isn't dragging around a piece of baggage that other families might look down on."
Corinne had long made up her mind. She wanted Yardley and Scarlett divorced immediately.
