Sylvia saw that the Flynn family's collective fury had been successfully ignited, and a dark sense of satisfaction washed over her. She immediately hit the play button, broadcasting the audio recording of Scarlett and Yardley in its entirety.
As the playback finished, the faces of everyone in the Flynn family turned a sickly shade of green. Franklin's expression was so incredibly dark, it looked like a thunderstorm was about to break. He rested his hands heavily on his knees and let out a harsh sigh.
"Yardley has always been ruthless when handling matters. How is it that he can't even keep his own wife in line now? She slapped him, and he actually swallowed it?"
Clarissa narrowed her eyes, the anger in them practically boiling over. "If he hadn't spoiled her, there's no way Scarlett could have stirred up such a massive storm! He might be soft, but we can't afford to be. Dad, we have to take action this time. We need to force her to back down!"
Franklin's gaze turned icy. "Give me her number. I'm going to call her myself right now. Let's see if she dares to disrespect her father-in-law when I handle this personally!"
In the five years Scarlett had been married to Yardley, the number of times Franklin had actually seen her could be counted on one hand. But every single time, she had walked on eggshells around him, treating him with the utmost reverence, terrified of making a mistake that might upset him.
Regarding this daughter-in-law, Franklin had never publicly voiced an opinion. Even if he was dissatisfied, he kept it to himself. Subconsciously, he believed that as long as she recognized him as the head of the family, she wouldn't dare defy him. After all, in all of Bay City, there hadn't yet been anyone who dared to deny him face.
He decided to make the call himself, demanding that she bring the child to Flynn Manor immediately. He refused to believe she'd have the guts to say no.
Clarissa pulled up her contacts, found Scarlett's number, and placed the phone in front of Franklin. He cleared his throat and dialed the number right in front of them.
Ring, ring, ring...
After a short while, Scarlett's cold, distant voice finally came through the speaker. "Hello? Who is this?"
