He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 211

Franklin slammed his fist heavily onto Yardley's desk, leaving a visible dent in the solid wood.

"Yardley, what kind of woman did you get involved with?" he roared, his face purple with rage. "She's stripped the Flynn family of all our dignity! How on earth did she find out about such highly confidential matters? You'd better explain yourself, and fast!"

Yardley stared at his father, the fury inside him like a breached dam, threatening to swallow him whole. He forced down his emotions and spoke with ice in his voice. "Shouldn't you be the one explaining things first, Dad? Like those three illegitimate children and Irene Sommers?"

Franklin's eyes darted away, instinctively avoiding his son's gaze. "I fully intended to take that secret to my grave. You and your mother were never supposed to know." The more he thought about it, the angrier he got, slamming his fist against the desk again. "But look what you've done! Where did you find such a disaster of a woman, leaking everything onto the internet? You've completely humiliated me!"

Yardley let out a cold, mocking laugh. "I think the only person humiliating you is yourself. Did you honestly think you'd never face the consequences when you betrayed your wife and your family? Far from blaming Scarlett, I should be thanking her. Otherwise, my sisters, my mother and I would have been kept in the dark for the rest of our lives!"

Franklin's eyes widened in sheer disbelief. "What did you just say? You're going to thank her? How did I end up with a son who can't even tell right from wrong!" He spun around, refusing to look at Yardley. "What happened between Irene and me... that's my private business. It has nothing to do with you! Regardless, this entire mess started because of you and your wife. I am ordering you to do whatever it takes to crush this PR nightmare immediately. If you don't, and you lose your position as heir to the Flynn Group, don't blame me for being ruthless!"

With a livid scowl, Franklin stormed out of the office without looking back.

Trembling with rage, Yardley kicked over the antique display shelf behind him. Priceless artifacts and vintage liquors crashed to the floor, sending shards of glass and the pungent scent of alcohol flying everywhere.

It was madness. The whole world had gone mad. Everything was completely spiraling out of control.

He had never felt so utterly helpless and lost. What had he done to deserve this kind of punishment? His marriage was crumbling, his friends were abandoning him, and now his own father—a man who had always been so loving—was exposed for having a secret second family and had the audacity to threaten him with his inheritance.

He grabbed a bottle of XO cognac that had rolled across the floor and tipped it back, drinking deeply. The burn of the liquor scorched his throat, but it did nothing to extinguish the raging fire in his chest.

Yardley sank into the deepest abyss of despair, while Nathan stood frozen to the side, his desire to quit his job reaching an all-time high.
