"I originally had no intention of wasting my energy on you, but you crossed the line when you tried to take my life." Scarlett's voice was frigid. "I beat you today to send a message. I am not someone you can walk all over. My life isn't yours for the taking! If anyone is going to judge me, it'll be God, not you!"
On the ground, Sylvia was completely dazed from the beating. She lay there, seeing stars, her entire body radiating pain, barely even possessing the strength to groan.
Hearing Scarlett's words and spotting the knife discarded on the floor, Julian instantly realized what had happened. His eyes turned ice-cold.
He never imagined she would be stupid enough to attempt murder. The thought of being legally bound to a woman like this for even one more day made his skin crawl.
He shifted his gaze to Scarlett, profoundly shocked. He hadn't expected someone who looked so delicate to be so ruthless and decisive in a fight. Her movements had been sleek, professional, and brutally efficient—clearly the result of years of serious training.
He stepped forward, a slight tremor in his voice. "Scarlett, what happened? Do we need to call the police?"
She shook her head, pulling a few paper towels from a nearby dispenser and wiping her hands with an expression of pure disgust. "She suddenly tried to stab me, so I defended myself. No need for the police. I think she's learned her lesson."
Sylvia was completely subdued now, lying motionless on the floor. However determined she had been to kill Scarlett moments ago, that determination had now entirely curdled into deep, agonizing regret. She had completely underestimated Scarlett's combat skills. Even armed, she hadn't stood a chance.
Now, she had failed to exact her revenge and had lost whatever shred of dignity she had left in front of Julian.
Julian stared down at Sylvia's battered, miserable form, his disgust peaking. "I used to think you were gentle and kind, but I see now that was just an act. Deep down, you are selfish, vicious, shallow, and unbelievably stupid. If you had actually hurt Scarlett today, it would have been attempted murder. You would have gone to prison! Do you have any brain cells at all?"
He frowned, feeling physically revolted just looking at her.
Hearing his scathing words tore Sylvia apart. She covered her face, fresh tears streaming down her swollen cheeks.
