The workers exchanged stunned glances. They never expected the infamous CEO of the Flynn Group to humble himself and negotiate with a blue-collar crew in person.
Yardley glanced at his watch, his tone flat but laced with a tempting offer.
"I don't care how you do it, but I want this finished by the end of the month. If you deliver on time, I'll personally sign off on the final payment, and I'll add a twenty percent bonus for everyone."
A massive reward always breeds motivation.
The previously sluggish atmosphere ignited instantly. The foreman rushed forward, his face split into a wide grin.
"Mr. Flynn, don't you worry! With your word on the line, we'll work through the night to make this place look spectacular!"
Yardley gave a slight nod. He grabbed a chair, sat right in the middle of the debris, and personally oversaw the work.
With his back against the wall, he stayed planted at the site for an entire week.
Word quickly reached Jacqueline.
When she arrived at the site, she spotted Yardley standing on the second-floor corridor.
He was holding a construction schedule, his head tilted as he listened to the foreman's report, his expression focused and intense.
Hearing her footsteps, he turned around. Seeing it was Jacqueline, he immediately stood up and offered a polite greeting.
"Mom."
Jacqueline was genuinely surprised to see him actually there, but a mocking smile quickly touched her lips.
"Well, if it isn't the great CEO Flynn. My modest establishment isn't exactly built for royalty like you. Just pay the damages and be done with it. This kind of manual oversight isn't your style."
Yardley adjusted his cuffs, neither arrogant nor submissive.
"Don't waste your breath. Scarlett is dead set on divorcing you."
"Yardley, out of respect for the fact that you two got married first and told me later, I held my tongue. To keep the peace in your marriage, there were a lot of things I never said. But I never imagined that my endless patience would only result in you and your family hurting her even more."
"Do you really think putting on an act and playing the penitent husband will make us forgive everything you've done?"
"If you want forgiveness, fine. Have your parents and Sylvia Stetson come to my house and apologize to Scarlett and me in person. Can you do that?"
Yardley's desperation to save his marriage had reached its absolute peak. He looked up sharply.
"Mom, if my parents and Sylvia apologize in person, will you actually consider forgiving me?"
The moment the words left his mouth, a shrill, venomous voice echoed from the stairwell.
"Impossible! Don't even think about it!"
